I don't think Gbamin had a medical issue did he? He got injured after a couple of games here and then effectively had a separate injury as he was about to come back. I don't think it was something that would ever have been flagged in a medical as far as i'm aware. Nkounkou is a weird one on here, he basically had a good game against someone in League 2 once and people talk about him as if he was the second coming of Ray Wilson. He's about to turn 25 and has never properly broken through anywhere, I don't know why people think we somehow messed up with him.
I may be misremembering, I thought Gbamin sneaked through with a quad injury because we were desperate?
Niels played against Salford for us, got farmed out on a few loans and went back to France for a small fee then a more lucrative move to Germany and has 40 games in two years for Frankfurt. I think some of the pain associated here is also the Antonee Robinson failure to.

First post on here in a while and I must say, it's nice to have a positive and upward buzz around Everton for once in a long while. Certainly the most optimistic it's felt since COVID with Ancelotti, and this seems much more based in reality because of the tangibles we've built and are building, namely the stadium and squad, along with stability from the owners.

Looking forward to the end of the window and what we do, but must say it's the first time in a few years I can say I'm looking forward to an Everton season ahead. Seems like something enjoyable on the horizon, not something to dread. Long may it continue!

Only 17 starts in 2 years for Nkounkou, and he fairly regularly doesn't make the matchday squad. I don't think there's a lot to suggest that we misjudged him really.

As far as I know that was just people putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 with Gbamin. There was an idea that he hadn't been fully fit when we signed him and then he got a bad injury, but I don't think i've ever seen any serious suggestion that there was an issue that should have been flagged in his medical.
