Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Some good ones though, Barry, McCarthy, Lukaku, Sig, Richarlison - All good signings with Prem experience

Tarkwoski has been a great signing when you think about the consistency he’s provided for a free transfer. He’s got limitations but considering the plight we were in when he arrived to come in and become captain, he’s been an absolute rock in defence through some horrendous periods under different managers.

No it isn’t. Signings were mostly awful across the board:

Klaassen 2/3rds back
Sandro signed on a free, all the warnings were there
Vlasic made money
Tosun lost
Bernard technically made money
Mina big loss
Gomes big loss
Gbamin big loss
Kean made money
Sidibe only a loan
Nkounkou lost opportunity, another LB with promise let go
I think the Gbamin signing and squeaking through a medical injured somehow is the one that really hurts, lost Gana and his much hyped replacement we really never got to see. Obviously the huge fee and infamy re the chap from Iceland is notable for how it ended as well.

Klassen took a move, ok, head held high. Vlasic and Kean sound. Nkounkou overlooked, Bernard was ok and moved on for profit. The rest besides Sidibe are all pretty pathetic.

I don't think Gbamin had a medical issue did he? He got injured after a couple of games here and then effectively had a separate injury as he was about to come back. I don't think it was something that would ever have been flagged in a medical as far as i'm aware. Nkounkou is a weird one on here, he basically had a good game against someone in League 2 once and people talk about him as if he was the second coming of Ray Wilson. He's about to turn 25 and has never properly broken through anywhere, I don't know why people think we somehow messed up with him.

This is the nuance that is consistently overlooked. I don't think anyone who says yes to a DCL return is suggesting he comes back as a starter on £100k+ a week. There's a figure that represents a good deal for DCL as a squad player.

Now whether Everton and DCL could settle on a wage that satisfies the club is another matter, I doubt it. Whilst I don't doubt DCL is a quality athlete, his valuation of what he's offered from a footballing perspective in recent years seems to be a little inflated. He would need to drastically lower his expectations.

So yes, if DCL came back with a realistic valuation of what weekly wage he can command, there's a deal, but I don't think the valuations of the club and him are anywhere near close where this becomes a thing.
No thanks unless it was a pay to play deal and they arent allowed. He is not good enough and always injured. Had half a good season under Anchelotti and has been living off it. Would hate to see him back.
