Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Haven't we pretty much done that though?

Barry & Aznou very young and should hope to develop here over the next few years. Dibling ditto, even though of course that one is still a big question mark in terms of actually bringing him here full stop.

Travers, KDH & Grealish are not only clear Premier League-level operators but they are genuinely good players who raise the overall quality of the squad, which is typical of those types of players in the 26-30 years old bracket.

I'd say that's a pretty sound balance so far. All of the wide forwards we've been targeting have been ~25 years old and I'd be amazed if any DM we bring in now before the end of the window isn't also a seasoned (i.e. older) PL-level operator given what the role entails.
I agree that the business so far has been more than sound. Like I said I more than understand the Grealish and KDH additions (especially KDH). Its just to say that as the window closes I hope we keep that duality in approach. If Dibling comes off I think I would feel a lot better about this (albeit on more reasonable terms) or at least a young RW of similar rationale. But my worry is once the season starts the drive for immediacy may creep in. That said Moyes and Co have done a good job thus far of splitting the difference. We shall see.

I mean, that’s absolutely terrible.

Have a look at all the other RW we are linked with; Dibbling got 2 goals and 1 assist, McAtee got 3 goals, 0 Assists, Fatawu got 0 goals and 2 assists.

The only players with descent goals and assists from RW that we are linked with are championship players like Fellows, 4 goals 14 assists or French Ligue 1 players like Zuriko Davitashvili, 9 goals 8 assists.

To be fair if you read all AM's posts, he's never professed to being ITK. He's literally just giving his opinion. It's all the desperate bluenoses who want the inside track that treat him as if he's trying to be ITK.

This one's the same - just his opinion. I wouldn't take it as gospel at all!
Most wonder why he keeps getting asked like he knows inside information or is it an on going joke now

I think the Grealish signing probably puts us on track for where I thought we'd be but still critical we get other signings in for RW CM RB. If we get those in, in terms of numbers it will have been a big success.

Looks at this stage that we might do less loans but also spend more than expected. Be great to do more business in the coming week or two and not be stuck needing to do a lot of work on TDD though I still expect we'll be active then.

Soooo… would you have dcl back?

On low wages? Yes.

He could be third choice striker and Chermiti could go out on loan. He offers a very different threat to Beto and a different plan B option off the bench if we were chasing a game.

I can’t see it happening but if the option came up to take him on a 2 year deal on low wages then the club should at least think about it.

This is the nuance that is consistently overlooked. I don't think anyone who says yes to a DCL return is suggesting he comes back as a starter on £100k+ a week. There's a figure that represents a good deal for DCL as a squad player.

Now whether Everton and DCL could settle on a wage that satisfies the club is another matter, I doubt it. Whilst I don't doubt DCL is a quality athlete, his valuation of what he's offered from a footballing perspective in recent years seems to be a little inflated. He would need to drastically lower his expectations.

So yes, if DCL came back with a realistic valuation of what weekly wage he can command, there's a deal, but I don't think the valuations of the club and him are anywhere near close where this becomes a thing.
