Pretty clear a versatile two footed defender/midfielder would be ideal for cover, similar to what Young was. An all rounder, but with a few less miles on the clock.

That midfield three were criminally underrated. All three of them could put it about and cloud play. We’ve not had many midfields since that could combine physicality and guile like those three did. Maybe Barry McCarthy Barkley in 13/14.
