It is, but it’s also quite clever. Saints now have an unhappy player and no doubt he’s now telling his agent ‘Everton are out of buying me now’. His agent will be all over Everton and Southampton for a deal to be reached. Wouldn’t be surprised if the transfer request goes in this week. I think we will get him over this Leicester fella. Last thing we need is another Africa nations fella.
Likely leads to player putting in transfer request, which weakens soton’s hand

Kind of feel sorry for the kid, that he’s missed out on a great opportunity at a club on the rise, in the promised land of the premier league. No doubt if his potential is realised, he will get another opportunity sooner rather than later (hopefully next season if saints don’t come up and we snaffle him for a portion of what they wanted!). Think he would have been great for us, but Saints owners reserve the right to ask for what they want, even if £50m for a championship player is frankly ridiculous. Hope they get relegated again and Rickie Lambert talks to a glass of water positively but it turns into crude oil, the coastal Uk clinging on bumferrets.

Omari Hutchinson might be Plan B. Not as skilled or clever as Dibling but properly rapid which is something we are desperate to see.
I think he is very overrated personally.
I’ll always prefer a little less pace and little more intelligence and technical skill.
It’s fine having a sprinter on the wing , not so fine when he gets to the byline and just hoists into a box , with no other plan .

Unless he gets an injury he can do his thing this season and still get a big move, time is on his side.

Security of a big wage and contract is a big issue though, not sure I'd want to be risking big injuries that would scupper a move.

Either he signs an improved saints contract with release fee or agitates for move this window would be best for his long term future whether he moves to us or not.

I think if Fofana goes elsewhere, they'll go back for Dibling but it'll be a late one.

But it's obvious we wanted a fair few before him - even Kubo. We could see if any late movement on him.
Problem is the Spanish team want 60mim for kubo and he got 5 goals and no assists in the Spanish league last season. So I’m not sure he’s value for money,
I’d still stay on the Dibling train

Dibling is a very promising player with a high ceiling no doubt but he is miles away from an established PL footballer as things presently stand and for £50 million you'd expect an oven ready player.

For less money you can still pick up young promising players who are at a similar stage in development ( Doak )or further advanced ( Fatawu) and that's the route that I would go down if Southampton refuse to reduce their valuation.
Liverpool ain’t selling us doak, so forget that. Fatawu is 2yrs older and i stop prefer Dibling, I think he has a higher ceiling. I think Fatwu will still be available in the window very late on, so we can still wait a little for hopefully Southampton to blink
