Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I don't recall him rejecting us.

We can all make up stories. I recall Everton not meeting Coventry's valuation and backing out of the deal. I just Googled it and that seems to be the case.
Don’t be a dweeb.

In the January, Gyokeres stated he was aware of our interest but he wanted to stay at Coventry to help them get promoted.

Then in the summer after signing for Sporting, we were strongly linked with having made an offer and Amorim (Sportings manager at that time) stated that he saw the offers and they weren’t PL teams that Gyokeres wanted to play for - ie, us.

Regardless of whether we hit the valuation or not.

I take it with a pinch of salt unless the words came from the player himself.

Anyways, what's done is done. We ended up with one bang average player in Beto and a player who will not make it in the division in Chermiti, sadly.

The good thing about Grealish is that it relieves the pressure on every other signing. Otherwise it’s just headlines like ‘can Barry replace DCL, he better had do for 30 million’, ‘Are Everton missing Doucoure, 0 goals and 0 assists for Alcaraz and Dewsbury Hall after 45 minutes’. Same with whoever comes in at right wing.

With Grealish in town though all media attention will be on him. The rest of the new signings can just bed in without ridiculous media piling on pressure.
I think all the expectations that come with Grealish are exactly what he needs. He used to carry that Villa side, seems like the sort of player that loves the responsibility of being the star man

Davide Calabria is a free agent RB and looking at a move abroad. We're mad if we let Palace sign him without a challenge.

Yeh, we'd be the mad ones...
