Confirmed Signing Jack Grealish

I have concerns about his motivation and hunger as do some others but all things considered and with how the summer has panned out to date it's not an option we can pass up at this stage. I thought this was one that would be dragged out right to the deadline but that he has given the green light himself to this relatively early is a good sign I think.

If he comes here ahead of the first game then it's a brilliant sign. He could easily wait it out until the last moment to see if something better drops. If he wants to play here he must be up for the challenge.

I’ve an update on wages, if I may.

It’s now being reported that Everton will pay £90k per week with Citeh paying the rest (£210k).

Don’t know if it’s true. If it is, that’s a much better deal for us.
Yeah read that too. It was a journo's opinion though I think - albeit a reasonably credible one.

If true though it would make this a no-brainer.

I'm happy most of the time mate. It's just Everton's BS merchant officers and owners and their media helpers who annoy me.

I suspect he'll want to go to the world cup and also fall in love with Everton

I hope so mate. I have a lingering doubt that he lost hunger after the treble win. It's nothing more than a doubt though and like I say, I'm willing to give him the benefit of any doubt I may have.

What I will say though is that if you play for one of the big 4 clubs in the north west, then off field behaviour will be well known about by all players at those clubs. It's a small world these lads live in; they live in the same areas, likely go the same golf courses, restaurants, bars etc, so you'd like to think the manager has a clear idea of the type of person he is.

Somebody above made the point of if he wasn't hungry, he'd just stay at City. In some cases that's a valid point, but a loss of hunger/desire is not always a conscious decision and a small drop - off can make a big difference.

Listen though, it's not my style to weigh in on a player unless I think their goose is well and truly cooked here. See DCL for example, who I once backed but had, had enough of by about October of last year. I'll bow out now, and won't be comenting on him again until he's at least played some games for us. I hope he smashes it here.

Alcaraz is over rated by so many on here. He’s shown glimpses of quality but not consistently. The idea we turn down the chance to sign Grealish because of him is wild.

I hope Alcaraz kicks on and shows consistent form but I wouldn’t be turning down proven world class players on that basis.
It’s about building a squad and having horses for courses. It’s a long season and everyone will get an opportunity.

I hope he wants to prove a point and show Pep what he is missing but it also has the feel of Rooney coming back. We will have a few good moments but the money could have been spent on better.

Been forwarded a message - probably BS as Kev Grealish isn’t his agent Jonathan Barnett of Stellar Group is.

‘From the Shropshire Blues ITK... "Grealish all done, signing tomorrow, Kev drives up in the morning. Issue with City has been over £1m bonus that they didn’t want to pay. We are paying £200K a week. His dad Kev is his agent 👍"

Jonathan Barnett retired last year so there might be something in that...

I only respond in kind. These forums have a cultish quality whereby anyone who questions the prevailing wisdom is thrown out as a heretic. I would love to see Grealish at Everton, if he is still motivated and fit and doesn't impact team morale then he could be a very good player for us. But the cost concerns me given that he never really scored/assisted that many even at his best and I'm not sure he is actually the type of player we most need. I just don't rate him as highly as others. Great players don't kept out of the England team by Mason Mount.

And that is you're opinion which is fine and a decent opinion i might add, but can you show me where on my original post to you my post was disrespectful.
