The race to write off youngsters

I saw loads to be excited about with Barry yesterday. He's got great pace and likes to work the channels. When he's going up for headers he tries to find a teammate not just nod it on to nobody. He put NDayie through with a lovely pass. The chance he missed he tried to flick it over the keeper but fluffed it on his weaker foot would have been a nice finish if he pulled it off. Closed down well.

Also players usually need a season or two to get going. Mateta at Palace looked a competition winner his first season but has developed into a real good premier league striker.

Sharpies career would have lasted 5 minutes in this day and age.

Which goes to prove nothing much has changed. Other than people are giving their thoughts in online forums.
Big fuss about nothing if you ask me. Nobody is writing anyone off. Its an instant reaction in game time mostly. If a young player is caught out of position and you say it you're not writing them off. And as for match time threads? Lol. Instantly forget anything said in them. Its like someone standing behind you in the Gwladys street slaughtering Sharp around that era.
Pinch of salt.

I think everything is seen as black and white, I made a post after their goal about Aznous positioning being awful. For me, it’s an observation in the moment, like it might be completely different in three weeks time after he’s bedded in and gets his role.

But I think people take that as people writing lads off, start the whole ‘Are you Mad?’ and people end up actually hating the lad because someone stuck up for him on an internet forum and made you look like a tit.

Hype machines to blame.

Fair point. I do think today's generation have very little patience, and crave instant gratification. It's just way the world is these days. I remember Gary Stevens giving a late goal away on what may have been his debut against Cov in the league cup. Patience then showed what a player he turned out to be. Its very hard for young players now to get a decent run in the team.

The biggest enemy of Everton isn’t Liverpool or the Premier League or the ghost of Kenwright, it’s the perma angry super bloo NSNO lad Everton dars and their simple mouth breathing Reform style hounding of the discussion space.

Until we have the bravery and motivation to kick these Wrangler wearing relics back into the long grass they’ll keep comprising all young talent by castigating them for no reason other than the dars can’t get an erection anymore and only the dog gives them any respect.

How long have you posted here?

The young players have never been given a chance

It’s by far the worst part of our online support

….young players have to be special talents to break into the first team, not many who fail here come back to haunt us (Robinson at Fulham, maybe).

I’m a believer that if they’re good enough, they’ll play but they have to earn their game time, just like Branthwaite.

Maybe no maybe about Robinson we let him go to Wigan for 1 million - he would walk into our left back berth 3 seasons ago ....

Yamal won a euros at 17

Are we forgetting that some young players are incredible and deserve to start over overrated older and more experienced players

Alexander Arnold made his senior debut for Liverpool at 18 and played in back to back champions league finals at 19 and 20

If your good enough your old enough

I’d rather start a 16 year old wonder kid then a 29 year old crab who has 400 games under his belt and only passes sideways

Why? Whilst there's some reasonable support for players like Aznou and Barry, there's plenty of negativity after they've not played more than a couple of games between them.

What happened to giving players the chance to develop and make a few mistakes during the learning process? Its not just these 2 but it's happened with plenty of young players in recent memory. I suspect Armstrong will be built up and then get pelters if he has a couple of poor games.

It'd be nice to see a few more support our players and embrace the positivity that the new owners and stadium brings to give the club a lift as a whole, the continual negativity makes us live up to the bitters name.

I know it's a crazy notion but maybe see how they get on over more than a few minutes, new country/league/language at young ages and serious expectation, least we can do is give them one less thing to worry about each weekend by not giving a load of abuse. Let's leave that behind at Goodison.
I don't think it's an attack on these young players. It's that this fanbase has been waiting for over 30 years for our powers-that-be to provide a side worthy of the club's historical standing. It beggars belief that a huge portion of our current transfer budget has seemingly been spent on "potential" when we have massive gaps to fill in the first XI, let alone squad.

Barry cannot have been bought for potential. At his price, he must hit the ground running. Aznou is clearly potential - his price suggests as much. He only played yesterday because of injury to Mykolenko. I think many fans are simply fed up with the inability to replenish the squad as required. I think both Aznou and Barry will turn out to be good signings. But they will scapegoated unfairly if the club does not do its job and build a team that can compete today. With Everton, it's always "jam tomorrow."

Two words - Moise Kean.

We’ve learned nothing since.

No need for it at all, both aznou and Barry got some heat, farcical really.

There seemed to be a lot of aggro about the place yesterday, probably caused by the queues at the bars etc.

Loads of fans giving plenty of stick to the staff for the situation, no patience, just abuse to in some cases kids, screaming at them in some cases, just uncalled for.
