Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I don't though , I fully get it will take time and windows to rebuild. But I do think a right winger should have been secured its not a massive ask, is it? Seems to be with Everton who was the last natural right winger we had? Townsend? Harrison and Lindstrom were not natural there. I get the financial issues but this is chronic failure, arguably we need two wingers but like right back its just let's make do, I get you have a budget I also get some have turned us down, but the right winger was number one priority?! And we sit one week from a season without a natural one. We could have got a squad one then persued main target we have known we have needed one for years at this stage. Its perfectly fair to call that out. I am also not convinced you can rely on a 19 year old all season there we need two! Without one we are "making do" again, and unbalancing the team.
We have quite a few players that can do a job there. I remember us finishing pretty high up the table with Cahill and Fellaini up front. Again, we wanted a right winger. We have tried. We haven't been able to get the ones we wanted for the right price. I'm glad we haven't bought a stop gap.

I mean we could of got Fellows easily but we identified better players instead of making do with an easy signing

Team started to get found out tactically the last month and a bit if I remember correctly.
I think it was ultimately squad depth. We had injuries and tired players. We were basically level with Liverpool in January and they went on a run for the league and we dropped off. Two new players in January could have put us in the same position

Yeah Martinez was starting to get found out especially his infamous 'we don't train set pieces as they aren't proper goals' quote and subsequently when we're in pole position for 4th a Tony Pulis Crystal Palace take advantage of our lack of set pieces knowledge
If I remember Liverpool at the same time, they obviously had Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling but they also scored a load of goals from set pieces, particularly the all important first goal. The 3-3 at least two of their goals were set pieces. Most championship teams score a lot from set pieces.

Can't remember exactly but when you have a manager and assistant manager glorifying the lack of set piece coaching as its a waste of training ground time as set pieces aren't proper goals then you're going to get bitten on the bum at some point
