Surely Moyes is just looking after one of his lads by helping him out with facilities and staff, I doubt we will be offering any contracts to him, especially anytime soon. Still a good chance the fella will never play professional footy again I would have thought.

We have quite clearly tried for numerous top level players who have turned us down because we aren’t in Europe and for 6 of the last 10 years have had worries about relegation etc.

The issue is around PR, “promises” (not the correct word but will do for now) etc.

As a fanbase we’ve been lied to, told x y z and been delivered a team who hasn’t be competitive in this league for 10 years now.

When a manager or club says something like that fans are going to grab onto it.

Firstly in hope and excitement but if failed yet again they’re going to use it as another of example of hot hair by our football club.

That can’t be hard to understand unless you just want to be ignorant

I reluctantly pay 5/6 quid for a 330ml can of something on a flight. However, whether its sport,music, travel hospitality etc, its been a rip off for a long while. The fact in most case hospitality is contracted out means clubs save on the admin, buying stock and paying staff but do not gain from the sales of food and drink itself.

Before my middle son secured his graduate position last year, he worked agency at Old Trafford, Goodison and mostly Anfield on match days. He was paid around £2 per hr above min wage for each shift at 18/19 years old onwards so a fair bit of those inflated food and drink prices are staffing costs in the end from the catering supplier paid to the employment agency.

San mig light is great, at 70p. Im not sure how they can inflate the cost to 10x. It seems to be a bit ridiculous to me.

It’s not quite as straight forward as just putting a bid in though is it. They will be having ongoing discussions between the clubs. And it’s about how the valuation is met.

Like, after our first bid, the valuation was then supposedly £40m. Well our 2nd bid met that once you take the add ons etc into account. Then all of a sudden the valuation was £50m. For all we know, our 2nd bid met the conditions they put on it after our first bid and they moved the goalposts.

It’s literally impossible to match their valuation with a straight bid when they change it every time we do bid.

Its always been £50mil according to reputable sources.

Again, no promises were made.

It takes 4 to tango… 2 clubs, player and agent.
We have clearly bid for players and spoken with some. Regardless of paying the prices, these players aren’t choosing to join us. That’s where the past 2-3 decades have got us, nothing more or less than that.
Hopefully the stadium and ownership provides stability but unless we double our wage structure, it’ll take time to get these elite players

Thanks mate. Yep he's gone from the stink of Greyskull to being assigned to the Cabinet Office in a year . Unfortunately he will be back in Manchester from September seconded to the Dept of Education as they have to do rotations in different posts.

I'll judge them at the end of the window. Obviously would have preferred us to have done more ready for kickoff.

They do have to deliver then on both quality and quantity. The conventional wisdom appears to be that this is the time when all parties to a transfer take a more realistic view of what's possible, so let's see what is indeed possible then.

They need a minimum 3, ideally 5 by September 1. I'm quite confident they'll get the numbers, not particularly so on the quality.

Things a bit steady as she goes so far, and a bit underwhelming given the level of expectation but I do want them to add a signing or two that can generate a bit of excitement.

They will be open to justifiable criticism if they don't do a good deal more, but no point making premature judgement either.

I understand what he said entirely. I connected with it because it’s what I want for the club as well and it’s what the clubs needs. (Key words, want and need).

But I’m not going to keep throwing it at him/the club and changing (or omitting) the words acting like he “promised” we would get these players. He didn’t. He wants them, as we do.

Im also not naïve enough to believe that we are all of a sudden going to sign all these elite players after the last 10 years so I’m not going to whinge about it every day.

Loads of things to be angry at the club for over the past 10 years, but constantly whinging about all of a sudden not signing a load of champions league standard players is just ridiculous.
