As for incomings, Leeds are continuing to pursue full-backs, No 10s, wingers and strikers, and Liverpool’s Ben Doak is one winger Leeds have discussed. Sources close to the player and Anfield indicated United have expressed interest in the 19-year-old.

Liverpool rejected offers around £20million for the winger in January and value him around the same amount now. If they do not receive an offer in that range, they are happy to retain him as a squad option.

Based on losing DCL and Broja I think yes, as Chermiti doesn’t look ready and Barry looks like he needs time…

If we don’t have a top first choice RW option as a minimum by the Leeds game then the recruitment team are going to have a lot to answer for. We really should have a right back as well and another defensive midfielder.

Southampton have snared loads of teams over the years though, Lavia last season, van dyke etc

If Hammond is the best in the business as Kinnear seems to believe then his instincts should see us get a deal done quicker than this.

The RS are arguably the best at transfers because they leverage things in their favour all the time. We might not have the pulling power of champions like they do but Hammond has clearly underestimated Southampton’s value of the player which is really poor in my view.

The fact that Moyes made it clear he expected two before Roma seems to align with my view on it too.

In fairness I think PSR has had such a massive impact on player trading across the league it’s very different to usual. Deals happening very late because a lot of clubs are cagey about not wanting to spend, while also wanting top dollar on sales.

Add to that our high player turnover and new (incomplete) internal setup, can see why it’s been only gradual progress at times
