Dan Neil is in the last year of his contract at Sunderland and they’ve just bought Xhaka. Wonder if there’s a possible deal there? He was a standout performer for them and captain during their promotion season and the one before.

Another young, English, combative defensive midfielder to round out the middle of the park, could be a good option to develop.

Neil's simply not good enough mate, and that's the view from a few season ticket holders for them who've watched him since his debut.

General pov is he's reached his peak and that's a good championship level player but that's his ceiling. It's shy I've not talked to anyone whose that bothered he'll be moving on.
 

Not sure if we'll get anything more done between now and next week, Grealish talks will certainly drag on and I expect Soton are gambling on other interest in Dibling.

I sometimes think with the excitement generated by the more accelerated transfer talk as of the last few days, we haven't yet signed Dibling, Grealish, or indeed Lopy.

Certainly be nice to get one more over the line before Leeds but as it stands there is still plenty of work to be done before slotting any of the above names or others into people's starting XI. I do it in my head but committing it to the written word sounds too much like tempting fate for Everton.
