To be fair it could of easily been 2 had Southampton not asked for things they are never going to get.

I still haven't seen any sign from our recruitment team they can close on the elite players we desperately need.

How the heck are we going to be able to attract 'elite' players in our situation without horrific overpays?

But cannot understand why this was all not addressed several weeks back….

Clearly not our 1st choices if this was the case and now we seem to be onto 3rd/4th choices and leaving it all to the end of the window.

16 mill a year. Complete non starter.

Yep, he knew that when he signed. Take the money and not play so he can't sign elsewhere, or get paid significantly less and have to play.

It's perverse to the point of cynical, but, its a short career and once the boots get hung up the game near enough forgets you.

Just got excited for a minute today about Dibling and Grealish… then realised we aren’t close to signing either.

We tried to get better players and some of them didn't say no but also didn't say yes. So we waited around for them for a couple of weeks and then moved onto the deals we've now done/are doing.

I take the point though that we probably overcommitted in terms of sticking around a week too long on most of those targets.

City know that, they are simply waiting to see how much people ARE willing to pay, the highest offer wins.
