Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

There’s still been improvement

Travers > Begovic
Aznou > Young
Barry > DCL
Alcaraz > Doucoure
KDH > Mangala

We need two wide players better than Harrison and Lindstrom and probably a backup striker that offers more than Broja did.

I still think we end this window with a much better squad than last season.
"...and probably a backup striker that offers more than Broja did." I think we have 2 already, dont need 4 strikers when we only play with one #9.

All of those apart from Alcaraz are debatable. Begovic was a good back up keeper, no one knows how Barry or Aznou will get on and Mangala was looking good before his injury. Not seen anything to suggest KDH will be an improvement.

Joyce and Boyland are as solid as it gets mate.

Not questioning the reliability of Joyce and Boyland mate, but I was just asking what the actual source quote was. I've found it now, it was "They could recruit Leicester City's James Justin for about £6million, or Liverpool's Ben Doak, who is valued at considerably more. But Everton are still carefully considering their options"

So yeah, it's basically a nothing rumour. He isn't saying that we're interested, he's just saying Justin is an option. But now loads of places have twisted that into us being on the verge of signing him

Leicester and his agent probably letting clubs know he’s available for a certain price. Unfortunately at the moment we’re one of the clubs they think, that would be interested. We just need to change that narrative. It won’t change signing him and the likes of Brownhill and jack
Harrison.

Could literally say this about any player but there’s no world in which a 40 year old Ashley Young would be on Bayern Munich’s books and whilst Barry went for 30 million no one will even take DCL on a free. I doubt anyone would have even paid 30 mill for him this peak.

Mangala was a slow midfield plodder who was the definition of neat and tidy but nothing more. If KDH can run at even an average pace he’ll be more useful than Mangala was.

People are forgetting how poor some of these former players were. Injury prone, slow, inconsistent, really poor output. These new players would almost have to contribute virtually nothing to be worse than some of those they’ve replaced.
