Transfer Rumour Tyler Dibling

I will say that I think people are underrating Dibling, he's a top top prospect and for me levels above cheaper options like Fellows and Doak.

Issue I have with this is more optics, don't want other clubs to see us being bent over by Southampton when we still have a lot of business to do.

He’s the potential to be brilliant but it’s a massive gamble and not one I think we’re in a position to take.

Doak is much more of an exciting prospect than Fellows is imo. I’d even argue that for what we currently need Doak fits the bill more than Dibling does.

Everyone in the world now knows how desperate we are and how much money we have because we’ve been flailing around throwing daft bids in for this player, so everyone will simply tack £10m on top of their asking price for us.
Maybe it would be a good idea if Moyes didn't go into press conferences like a rabbit in the headlights telling everybody how desperate we are.
What I don't want to see is us making the same mistakes as the past overpaying for players and giving them ridiculous contracts.
The expectation for this season to get in the European places is too high it can't be done in one season with the players we have and are looking at.
Maybe Moyes feels this is his one shot staying in the job and if that's the case we should have got a new manager In in the summer a younger man with fresh ideas.

If we move on, so be it. I said it from the start that he was an expensive risk as promising as he looks and this posturing from Southampton is just daft.

Isn't knowing who wants to come and who doesn't want to come a fundamental part of having a plan ?
Maybe, but who are all these top players lining up to come to a club that has had points deductions, ongoing battles with relegation and countless changes of management? So that part of any best laid plan is instantly out of the window. Also isn't there a little rule about tapping up?
Even when a player wants to come to you, lets say Mbeumo as an example things are still far from gaurenteed and can drag on for months.

My best guess is that we send the same £40m-ish offer to City for McAtee now, and just hope one of the players puts pressure on their club. I’d prefer we look abroad but definitely need to get something done soon.

Not seen enough of Doak to argue tbh but I know the view of a lot of people in the game is that Dibling is the outstanding British prospect atm.

Never played a championship game either Dibling, the games he was playing (very well in) last season in the PL were his first professional matches. Think the potential with Dibling is genuinely off the scale tbf.

We're not without tricks here ourselves, get he player to agitate, take our time - Southampton will have transfer plans of their own, will need to reinvest in the market to strengthen, their aim will be promotion - stakes are big for them the later they leave this.

Think that McAtee was being looked at for the role we've now signed KDH for, so don't imagine we'll go back in for him.

If we walk and it turns out that Southampton were full of ish with their claims of the lad being in demand then this could go really pear shaped for them.

I maintain - that 'counter offer' they came back to us with was a joke and no way are any other club agreeing to something like that..
