Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We seem to have linked to a serious of uninspiring right backs during this window .
Tete is probably the only one I would describe as decent .
Is there a worldwide shortage in this position, or are we just looking for back up rb as opposed to a starter ?

If we can get Dewsbury -Hall and another decent central midfielder I'd be more confident in our ability to stay away from the bottom 3. I'd rather have had McAtee because he can unlock defences whereas KDH iis your standard run around a lot midfielder, but we don't currently have many of those either.
Dewsbury-Hall is a lot better than a standard run around a lot midfielder.

So weve gone for KDH over McAtee.

How do you feel about this?
Hope would be though that when the ball starts rolling and if the price is reasonable we get both in as I said. I'd certainly rather have Mcatee for 30m ahead of say a one year loan costing us 12-15m for Grealish say.

Ndiaye, KDH, Dibling, Alcaraz - we clearly need one or two more in on top of those as that's 4 for three positions and KDH could very easily drop alongside Gueye leaving us just with McNeil as backup - who id rather we brought someone in and sold off

Maybe the intention is to give Jake O'Brien a season as a starter in the Premier league at right back then move him inside next year?

Doucoure always used to get in our team under different managers, despite being rank at football, because of what he offered when it came to pressing. Dewsbury-Hall's pressing game is similar to Doucoure's, but is an excellent ball carrier. He has really good close control and strength and operates in tight spaces. He is a clever passer and contributes goals. Like Doucoure he plays as either or a 10 or an 8.

He is an excellent choice for the Doucoure replacement (and watching him won't make my eyes bleed, unlike Doucoure). McAtee is a good player, but to me, signing KDH alongside Dibling is much more sensible and exciting than signing McAtee to pivot between the RW and 10 positions.

Mcatee if you sign has to play the ten imo, otherwise you're playing him out of position, KDH can play the 10 or 8 equally well

I think he wants him at right back full stop, mainly so they can switch to a back 3 when in possession and Aznou can get further up the pitch (if Myko doesn’t suit that)
I don’t think he necessarily wants him as a flying fullback on the overlap imo.

Having three giant centre backs on the pitch helps with set pieces too.

I also think he wouldn't want to break up the Branthwaite/Tarkowski partnership yet and O'Brien is at the stage of his career where he needs to be playing 30+ Premier league matches (injury permitting).

What right back we need or want should be very much determined by what right winger is gonna be ahead of him, get it wrong and you end up with a Lindstrom having to play 90% of the game as a default right back, so what type of right back suits Dibling if he's gonna be that right side for us should be the recruitment teams main question

O'Brien.
