What I am trying to say is Madueke (initial fee £48.5m rising to £52.5m) is a proven PL player and a full international while this kid is a prospect.

They can’t be worth similar amount of fee hence we should not be held to ransom.

Perhaps a bit of a sideways take here but if they are looking for 5M more than we are prepared to pay then why not just pay it. Keeping that 5M in the bank would be the equivalent of say not signing Travers or even selling Keane. If we are prepared to got as high as we have, we must have doen our homework.

Impossible to compete these days. Unless you qualify for the Champions League every year, have massive commercial income etc. etc. you are left fighting over the scraps in the transfer market and those scraps cost tens of millions these days. Wonderful

The same out of touch cry babies moaning about Southampton wanting more, will be the same people who want over £100 million for Branthwaite!!

The difference is branthwaite is already a good player

£25 mill, plus a few add ons. Happy with that. Lad is a decent player.

Looks like we definitely dropped down a tier with our targets, but improve this year and attract slightly better next year was always the likely path.

Different player type, but could be our McTominay. Decent player for a fair price. Still young, but also a bit of experience.

Here is the thing. Potential can go either way. He can be a Gordon he can be a Jeffers.

We can all want £100M for Branthwaite but most of us know he wouldn’t go for that amount and so do the club. Southampton should be a bit more realistic in their dealings too. If they are trying to put us off then just say he isn’t for sale but to think many clubs are gonna come in for him at £50M they are being a bit delusional. If the big teams wanted him they would probably have sounded them out already…..unless Forest have shown interest cos apparently everyone wants to go there.
