They’ve named their price and we’ve paid it. It is probably a bit higher than he’s worth but it’s probably a bette risk than missing out and getting a worse player in or no one in.

25mil is less than his worth imo

You don’t get much in today’s market for that and I think we have a cracking player and one we need so badly.

Nice player. Technically very good. Guessing he will play as most advanced midfielder in a 3.

I did think our midfielder priority would be more of a physical type - Fellaini/Doucoure/Soucek, as I think our midfield badly lacks that. Hopefully enough resources to do that.

He’s shown what he can do in the prem at Leicester and at Chelsea. He’s a decent age and seems to be a good character. It’s a low risk signing with a lot of upside if it goes well. Good buy for me.

Timing-wise it makes sense as Chelsea and the player himself are only returning for pre-season this week

He goes from the Club World Cup winners to the last placed team in the Summer Series cup.

I think this will be a good signing. Guy works his socks off, can pass and drives with the ball. Add to that the odd goal and he’s a pretty complete premier league central midfielder. He can play in all roles in the middle of the park.

This will see Iroebounam fall further down the pecking order imo.

I meant more like he's an uncapped English player who's had a couple of fairly nondescript seasons at the top level, a good one in the Championship, and then failed at a big club. He's not exactly the sort of signing that makes it look like we're shopping in a completely different market to what we're used to, either in terms of finding hidden gems or making statements; he is in many ways exactly the type of player you expect Everton to sign.

Yeah I don't mean we haven't negotiated well enough, just saying it seems a bit steep to me for what i've seen of him. I do think he's a decent player, I was just surprised to find that was the sort of fee we're talking about, I expected it to be less.

That’s the issue we need to manage as fans our expectations..
We’re 3 years minimum from shopping in that next bracket market or being attractive enough for player in the bracket to take the club seriously as an option …
Until then these signings allow us to grow the club brand and inch our way back
