I think most people are on board with it from what i've seen. As I said, I think he's a decent player, when I saw we were linked I thought he'd be a good signing, I just didn't think he would cost that much. The market's a bit mad and if he does well here then it's worth it, it's just that it is quite a lot of money for someone who isn't exactly a totally different profile from the players we've been signing in recent years.

The fee seems a little bit steep to me to be honest. He's a decent player, can be a good signing, but I thought we might be able to get him for a fair bit less than that. Not a player who is likely to really kickstart a revolution for us, but 2 weeks for before the first game we're very much into the 'take what you can get' period of transfers.

Chelsea have the whip hand in that negotiation. He’s under a decent contract, doesn’t make a difference to them if he kicks up a fuss, know we need players. They’ve named their price and we’ve paid it. It is probably a bit higher than he’s worth but it’s probably a bette risk than missing out and getting a worse player in or no one in.

He's only done anything of any note in the Championship. As for Europa League, a lot of the teams he will have faced were Championship level at best as well.
