Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

None of those teams needed 10 new players or have squads as pathetic as ours. I’ll keep repeating this as many times as it needs repeating.
100% it doesn't matter what justifications people make, we are heading into a season short handed as it stands, hampering ourselves from the off, again. It's recurring behaviour and the change of ownership /structure hasn't changed it as yet....

Actually, and I’ll keep saying this, teams get their priority business done and their top targets in early in the window. It’s not and never has been the other way round. This is something our fans have invented to cope with the sluggishness of our transfer activity.

This is some significant moving of goalposts, mucker. They’re not remotely the same thing and so I don’t think it can be classified as you “repeating” anything.

Like, it’s fine to think we’ve done a crap job, but let’s not make up the fact that every other team gets their business spot on.

We are the only team out of all of them with 17 senior players on the books. We’ve had a disastrous window and flailing around in the last two weeks picking up whatever scraps are left is not a strategy whichever way you want to dress it up. Properly run clubs don’t do that.

Zero evidence that prices go up, I'd say the eight of evidence is that in the modern era the highest prices are the ones done in the first weeks, as the window goes on the ones you know are gonna move clubs have seen nobody go for them at the clubs asking prices, the club then either gets an unhappy player staying or reduces the asking price.

Look at Elliot - they stuck a 50-55m price on him, he's gonna move, but nobody is even testing the water at that price. Mcatee Forest did a cheeky bid got told city valuation and walked away, will both those players move, yup but I doubt the selling clubs will get what they initially quoted at.

Same as Lyon will sell Fofana pretty much for what we offered in the next few weeks after trying to get 6-7m more.

Agreed on prices.

I think a lot of business gets done closer to the start of the season / end of the window as teams need to fill out squads, reduce numbers / wages and balance the books.

I’m still wary of what we will look like in a few weeks but it’s just the way it seems to go. United for example need to shift Sancho, Garnacho, Antony and potentially the likes of Højlund and Dallot. Wolves have lost both fullbacks one of which was their captain, there’s a few teams with new managers and Newcastle and Brentford have lost key players after very strong seasons.

It’s not been what we wanted but the lack of activity is generally reflected across the majority of the league. Only Brighton and the promoted teams have been active outside of the top 3.

It doesn’t make it any easier to take, especially given the level penance and attrition already banked!

Hard not to feel that way. I can see it picking up for sure but it just feels the same as it always has done before. Slow, disjointed and morale sapping.

Ok. Once again though, almost none of those other teams have attended to their outstanding business, correct?

And if not a lot of teams are bringing in the players they want/need, it means that what is left is far from scraps.

There’s also 4 weeks left.
