Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Perception is important in football. Tete deciding to stay at Fulham over us sent out the completely wrong message IMO.

Feel like going the extra mile (financially) to get that done just sends a message that Everton are actually an attractive proposition again. The dominoes fall easier after that.
Probably sent out the message that London is more popular for players than Liverpool.

Also sent out the message that the agent played a blinder by getting his clients a big pay increase.

'Confident' is a lame shout.

It's way off the expectancy he ended last season with.

The lowering of what's going to be possible numbers wise is alarming.
Perhaps he’s been told to reel in the negativity…. I had set the bar at elite players for an elite stadium without the expectation that it would be a one and done window. I didn’t expect it to feel like more of the same which is probably the most disheartening aspect of it.

Players that are easy to sign are usually coming for the money or nobody wants them.

I’d rather not spaff a load of money up the wall on useless dross and hinder us from PSR again

Actually, and I’ll keep saying this, teams get their priority business done and their top targets in early in the window. It’s not and never has been the other way round. This is something our fans have invented to cope with the sluggishness of our transfer activity.

This happens all the time at this club, lots of false postering about how things are going to change and then there’s slow erosion of the original statement over a period of time which is then accepted by fans and excuses are made until it gets to November and the realisation hits home that they lied to us again.

July 1st is another one.

If a player sees Fulham Football Club as a better career opportunity than Everton then we are clearly doing something very wrong. We’re not even talking about a Villa or a Forest or even a West Ham. We’re talking about a club that is as tinpot as it gets.
They are a Premier League club
They are a London club
He is probably happy living there.
They improved his wages and made it clear they wanted him .
He respects his manager .
We made an offer , he preferred to stay .
That’s all there was to it , hardly a pitchfork and torches moment for us .

I think it shows how low our stock has fallen if I’m totally honest.

Prices for good players will go up as the deadline gets closer. There are always some good deals at the end but it's also much more likely that a panic buy happens later in the window.

Waiting till late in the window is no guarantee of success and I'd argue its far more likely to lead to a poor window.
