Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Isn’t settling for the likes of Brownhill a reason we never progress.?
Once signed their wages consume a significant part of our expenditure for 2/3 seasons , they are difficult to sell on and upgrade delaying any improvements.
We have been bemoaning the quality of our squad for seasons to the point many were celebrating the expiry of players contracts as a chance to improve.
Settling for low quality players, when there is still a month of the transfer window left would be a retrogressive act .

Yes but situations shift and change don’t they. Obviously plan A would’ve been buy loads of good young midfielders for money. However as it stands, it’s now August and clearly plan A hasn’t worked because we’re hanging our hat on Douglas Luiz on loan and seemingly aren’t even interested in any others. So it’s time to pivot to plan B as our situation is urgent.

At this point , we don’t know who we have approached .
It is too early to give up .
If we were too settle for quantity over quality, we would be dooming ourselves to another 3 years of poor , mid table football.
Personally , with the continued increase in ticket prices, I am expecting the football to improve along with our ambition .
I don’t pay for architecture or fancy donuts , I’m only interested in the football .

As it stands right now, I would bite your hand off for mid table. This squad is nowhere near enough in terms of either quality OR quantity to compete in the Premier League and we would struggle over the course of a season as soon as injuries and fatigue start to bite. Our best midfielder is 36, I can’t stress enough how much we need 3 new midfielders.

agreed re quality, there's no point replacing what we had with more of the same, it defeats the purpose of the entire show.

Niles, Justin, D Hall, Brownhill…surely it’s quantity.

I will have Ndidi for £9m. Then try hardest to get Luiz on loan with option.
