Don't really understand the pivot to viewing Tim as the worst player ever on here.

He's not the finished article but I think he will be a good player, good athleticism and technique, just needs to learn to read the game better.

Maybe if someone had said to me in May “we’ve got Brownhill lined up for July 1st, but also we will go into the Leeds game without signing a single other midfielder”, then I’d have been ok with the signing then you know.

Well, that’s from September 2024 so isn’t even relevant in the slightest. If we’re doing the hypothetical thing, try and find something that is in a little bit relevant to our current situation. Which is the fact we’ve got a squad of 17 senior players.

It seems like there were some links with Nicolás Tagliafico but he pulled a Tete and just re-signed with Lyon which is an odd move since that club is in shambles. Its almost like a lot of decent free agents and are unobtainable moving quick like Jonathan Davies or just ultimately realize that they're settled and stay at their club

This window has been an absolute drag, I am not buying the spin about the players we have bought in which are mostly potential and Alcaraz was in the squad already, we are painfully short. We have very little on a bench even if everyone is fit, our midfield lacks physicality and control, our right wing lacks pace, our best right back is a center back and our first choice aren't fit, It's very worrying. Need at least two in by Leeds, and I have no confidence in that!? Moyes always went late and the recruitment team isn't fully in place also take the point we aren't many players first choice. But there are players out there other clubs attain them, it feels like we should have got some actual players to build the squad up in areas like right wing and midfield regardless of waiting till the last minute for deals that may never happen.

Can see us buying/loaning a few from Chelsea as we get closer to the end of the window, their squad is massive and we have history doing a bit of business with them.

What are you on about? You’re the one who started making up hypothetical reactions I would’ve had in May to things. Why don’t we go back to talking about the fact it’s August and we have 17 senior players on the books? I’d be fine with Brownhill as a signing right now because we’ve bought no midfielders and have the worst set of midfield options in the league.

Isn’t settling for the likes of Brownhill a reason we never progress.?
Once signed their wages consume a significant part of our expenditure for 2/3 seasons , they are difficult to sell on and upgrade , delaying any improvements.
We have been bemoaning the quality of our squad for seasons to the point many were celebrating the expiry of players contracts as a chance to improve.
Settling for low quality players, when there is still a month of the transfer window left would be a retrogressive act .
