Transfer Rumour Malick Fofana

….there was certainly a few on here who wanted to give him a new contract  but this is the Fofana thread and of all the links, I like the look of him most.

Mea Culpa, I would have to be fair at points and I would have been wrong.

Apologies actually posted this in the wrong thread in error.

Two wrongs in the one post!

If I were a player and Stoke were offering me £200,000 per week over other clubs offering me £100,000 per week, I’d be signing for the clubs that aren’t Stoke.

It’d be worth roughly £5.2 million per year to me not to have to play for Stoke.
I expect you won't have that decision to make but if you did I think you may give a different answer.

A football career is short, an injury could finish it at any time.
A big contract means security for life.

If your career goes well then in time you will get the move to a club chasing trophies and of course the money that goes with that.

Only a tiny fraction of players make it to the Premier league and a much smaller number play CL.
Most careers are about earning money, it is a huge factor even for older players who have earned huge money for years but still go to the Middle East for a last pay day.

Fofana can take his time on this.

I think the number of good CL teams that might sign him is diminishing but nearer the end of the window an opportunity may appear.
Meanwhile clubs like Forest and Everton are waiting in the background and will sign him if he agrees.

He can also stay at Lyon for another year although they may come under financial pressure to sell him.

I think this may rumble on for a while

Liverpool are about to give over 120m to Newcastle which makes Liverpool unlikely probably but Newcastle possible.

They already have 2 very good left wingers tbf.

Thank you for clarifying for me that my personal preference would be wrong and that you of course know my mind better than I do.

Money wouldn’t be my chief motivator.

It isn’t now, so wouldn’t be if I was a footballer, either.

I don't think any of us can know what our decision would be until we find ourselves with that decision to make.

Football is all about money now. It is a fiercely contested professional sport where only a tiny few succeed.

I doubt if there are a dozen players in the Premiership who are playing for the love of the club they supported as a child.

We of all clubs have seen talented players leave for perceived better opportunities elsewhere.

I am not doubting your bona fides in what you feel .
I simply think that agents pressure, commercial opportunities, the chances of winning silverware or gaining international recognition are all factors but money above all is what makes Football.

Unfortunately.

Got this feeling he will end up here. Don't know why, but it's there

Think hes got all the time in the world on this one. He obviously wants a move this summer and hes happy to wait to see what the lay of the land is and how the window transpires.

He'll move in the last week of August is my bet. Hopefully were happy to still be i negotiations with him then because i think this is a player we cant afford to move on to other targets if theres a remot chance we can get him.

Obviously this is all reliant on us needing a actually RW coming in as well.

If we could get fofana and dibbling and move ndiaye into the middle that is a exciting attacking line. But it'll be a long shot and require patience.
