I am the biggest stats nerd going but we're entering the dangerous era where lots of stats are available but people aren't always understanding of how to use them.

All these stats here tell you is that they were on a crap team who spent a lot of time defending. It doesn't tell you if he was any GOOD at that defending.

Yeah stats for defenders is much much harder. The more advanced metrics (like possession-adjusted tackles/interceptions, dribbled-past % etc) offer some useful stuff but almost none of it is available to the public. Aerial win % (not total aerial wins) probably the only one I can think of that is fairly unambiguous and widely available
