Makes no sense to me to pay £10mil to loan Grealish when El Khannouss has a £22.5mil release clause.

I suppose Grealish is a 'statement' signing (on loan) that may attract others but El Khannouss has lots of potential and we'd benefit from him long term.

I get your point, I think as much as a "statement signing", the other factor might be that Moyes wants a couple of players who can come in and have an immediate impact. Dibling (if it happens), Barry and Aznou are all exactly the kind of players we should be signing, but to supplement that we probably need a couple of players who can lift our level immediately.

Grealish, as a loan, would probably make a lot of sense in this respect. Douglas Luiz too for that matter. They'd be expensive loans, but they'd both probably raise the profile of the team and (fingers crossed) hit the ground running

I confess to not being overly concerned with 'raising the profile' of the team. We are Everton, we had James here for a season and gained nothing.

I would like to see us winning games from day one, and through the upcoming season. Marquee signings are no guarantee of that, having asquad of decent premier league players and a competent manageris perhaps a better bet.

I think he needs a change. He didn't have a good year but he's still a good player.
