I’m not saying it’s necessarily good Moneyball, just that they’ll have a bunch of players that fit certain profiles and they’ll bounce from person to person.

It’s quite different from identifying a player, scouting him well, putting out feelers, brokering a deal, etc.

I think a blend of data and scouting is much better than this scattergun approach you see so many clubs taking nowadays.

I hear you on the next version, younger one.

I don’t think we have the luxury of buying 18-22 year olds with high potential. Which ironically seems to be our approach this summer. The squad isn’t big enough with established pros for them to be integrated in. Also, they get an injury, don’t get many minutes and when they do they inevitably look rusty and get written off by 90% of the fan base

Can’t win if we are really honest. He is the type of player that a Brighton usually sign. Then when he inevitably goes to Chelsea in 3 years for 60 million, we come on here to moan that we didn’t snap him up. Everton are literally damned if they do and damned if they don’t when it comes to all transfers.
