Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Don’t worry about that mate. The closer we get to the deadline, the more likely we are to get our first choice targets, and less likely Harrison is.

Don’t know how that works, but that is apparently what happens.

I stopped worrying at the end of Jun when all we had to wait for was 1st July as that's when the PSR limits reset. We've been flying since.

We do, but there's little difference between James Garner and Josh Brownhill. I'm all for signing new players, we need a bus load, but signing someone just because they're available is a bad plan.

There’s a big difference between him and Tim Iroegbunam though. I also should clarify, and have done, that we need 2 other midfielders on top of Brownhill as well.

We’re not the only club struggling. In the last week Howe and Glasner, both in Europe btw, have come out frustrated as to where their clubs are. Fact is we need more players than they do.

Despite the super league being “killed off” that’s exactly where we are. There may as well be 3 transfer windows.
- The PSR one where the big boys pick off your players if you’re in trouble
- this one where only really the Top 6 and CL clubs buy
- and then the last two weeks to scoop up who is left.

The transfer market being uncompetitive is a direct correlation to the financial rules preventing competition.

I get Moyes frustration and he’s doing what he’s doing to keep pressure on the recruitment team but equally it’s not a good look for the club.

I think we had a chance to attack the window and we haven't for one reason or another.

I think the next few weeks will be about bringing in sufficient bodies of a sufficient standard to maintain a level.

The idea of bringing in top players this window is down the swanny.
I think it's a case of us waiting on answers from players/agents at the moment without moving down the list but at some point we will have to fully attack the market and bring in the players that are more open to joining with perhaps less quality.

I've almost written August off as our business will be late considering the quantity we have to bring in, and the fact the team itself look miles off it.

I thought the same but I'm not so sure now. Maybe it is just us going for unattainable targets or maybe the financial packages we can offer aren't that great? None of the lads we've signed will be on huge money and we've shipped out some big earners. Maybe we just can't offer the wages that players are looking for? I'm all for bringing down the wage bill but, if that is the case, why are we sniffing around the Douglas Luizs, McAtees and Fofanas of this world?
