Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I think its your appetite for risk mate, at this point i dont think we actually need much to improve the starting 11 - id be prepared to hold out for the three in but prob four players, if we have a chance. Of course you mitigate that, we should have say Tom Fellows or the like waiting for our call, like Fofana has us waiting. So you keep your plan A and plan B live.

We've brought 4 in before August which under normal circumstances is very active business for us - its the volume that is perceived we need tha creates the panic. Really i think its only 3/4 coming into the staring 11.

Id be inclined to stick with out top targets and be patient, id have contangoes in place - talking to b and c players.

We have 4 players who we shouldn't be looking at improving upon.

Pickford, Branthwaite, Tarkowski/O'Brien, and Ndiaye.

7 positions we either need better in or essentially we will 'make do'
Aznou in theory upgrades and sorts us at left back if Moyes will play him ofc.

4 of the 5 midfield spots are not good enough to be thinking these are starters.

We have no right winger - Garner just isn't good enough, Gueye shouldn't be getting looked at as an every game player, we have no right back and O'Brien is a square peg solution which removes all depth at centre back and leaving Keane as next in line. We dont have a number ten to speak off either - Alcaraz is squad level not someone who should be a nailed on starter. Up front we are hugely dependant on Barry settling quickly - if he takes 4-5 months or a season then we need Beto to stay fit and he's really not good enough to be a nailed on starter also.

At least 4 starters nailed on our needed, in reality we need 6-7 who are either better or at least equivalent to the likes of Gueye.

How is that a strange answer? You asked if he's one of those players too good for youth football, not good enough for PL football. Until he plays PL football literally no one can know that.
Exactly, it is posing the question for discussion - no biggie bro.

The forum is FULL of questions about whether players are good enough for the prem/Everton - it is literally what we do Fellowes about ten times a day

Straaaaange question indeed.

Yeah of those Moshiri signings I would say he's one of the few that did prove to be value for money despite us initially overpaying to get him.

For a season or 2 was creating most of our chances, scored some important goals and in the end brought in good fee.
He was very up and down though, which was an issue for us for a good while. I personally would be weary of going out and targeting a load of Alex Iwobi-types under the new ownership. They are, rightly, aiming for higher than that - it's just clearly been a struggle to sort much of anything out before August..

I would definitely be waiting for Grealish, but they will have had enough dialogue to know if it’s a non starter or it. Waiting is frustrating but if it means moving on to another bang average midfielder, I will gladly wait. We need signings but the squad is poor enough without signing more dross.
This

We're really between a rock and a hard place right now...

Absolutely spot on. Need to bring in first XI starters to strengthen the bench from our present starters

Aznou Moyes didnt even seen bothered when talking about him (young, probably not ready) -- imagine Aznou listening to that? Negative management.

Players dont want to join...well its because the work has not been done on them to ascertain their interest

6months and an ineffective window...all on Moyes.

Did you forget writing this mate? :dodgy:

Again, thats what ive made as my point.

Youve quoted it yourself now lol

Moyes is responsible for recruitment and look at how hes behaving even after a player signs?

Been avoiding this thread.

Moyes is annoying me tho. His public comments won't be helping us convince players or negotiate fees, generally seems a ridiculous tone to take (unless he himself is unhappy and looking for a way out).

100%

Wholeheartedly agree with that. That's the main reason I've been trying to be patient this summer and hold out hope that we will get things over the line eventually.

Easy to say we need players NOW and just get in whoever will join. Whole point of this summer was to rebuild and raise standards. The amount of players needed means that if we sign average players we are stuck with them for 4 years, and would be moshiri era all over again.
