Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Douglas Luiz’s agent Kia Joorabchian is speaking to Edu at Notts Forest.

The talks are around a loan with an option to buy, which could potentially become an obligation under certain conditions

Via Matte Moretto / Nico Schira

I know more about marine biology from that one episode of blue planet i watched15 years ago. Then that nico schira knows about football transfers.

The only thing ive ever seen him call right was Ancelotti coming here

Yeah there's definitely players that fall inbetween those two ability wise, but then I would say for the most part you're looking at overpaying for fairly average players.

I would class most of the signings we made under moshiri as that level of kind of inbetween player, not good enough for a top team but too good for 2nd tier.

Without wanting to bail out our recruitment team too much I do think we're in a bit of an impossible position, neither here nor there as a club. Fans (and manager and players) are expecting a certain level of player to come in now as thats what we've been sold by higher ups, those players are certainly not looking at us as a club that matches their ambitions atm though which is fair enough tbh.
Alex Iwobi is a cracking example of what you're talking about. Was he, ultimately, value for money for us in the end?

Nah it's exactly the opposite. Obviously he wouldn't be our first choice, he's likely to remain available all summer, and he would need minimal integration time because he's spent the last 2 years here. If he was to come it would be late in the window and always would have been.

I’ve no idea why people had convinced themselves that the players brought in at the end of the window would be all our top targets and the desperate panic buys would’ve been the ones we got in first. A complete warping of reality based on nothing but delusion.

Well, yeh - that is obvious!! What a strange answer. The question is as to why no one from the prem is bidding for him despite his stats. Is it cos he is not ready for the prem but too good/expensive for the youth/bench?

How is that a strange answer? You asked if he's one of those players too good for youth football, not good enough for PL football. Until he plays PL football literally no one can know that.

I'm hoping the silence suggests we've moved on from the frauds that don't want to join everton and are now on different targets. A shame because we're probably a tier down on our lists but honestly at this point I'll be happy when news starts to break in the next few days that we're making progress on mew signings.

Calm down lads, plenty of time left.

Re: Harrison - if he was so obvious a signing he’d have been made permanent around the same time Charly was

Fofana/Luiz/Grealish/McAtee - how much longer do we need to give it before moving on? We don’t have the time to spare

Hackney - it’s telling that despite being rated, absolutely zero PL clubs have gone for him
I would definitely be waiting for Grealish, but they will have had enough dialogue to know if it’s a non starter or it. Waiting is frustrating but if it means moving on to another bang average midfielder, I will gladly wait. We need signings but the squad is poor enough without signing more dross.

Yeah of those Moshiri signings I would say he's one of the few that did prove to be value for money despite us initially overpaying to get him.

For a season or 2 was creating most of our chances, scored some important goals and in the end brought in good fee.

My issue is the same with everyone whos has to play with gana.Their forced to sit back and plug the gaps that gana leaves when he presses.

When garner played for forest he was a more attacking cm but here hes forced further back that isnt his game imo.

I honestly believe that our issue at cm is gana. Individually he does well statistically speaking but i feel its at the detriment of the team.
I just really don’t think that’s true. Yes Gueye will at times leave his position to go press but I would argue he is very good and intelligent at knowing when to do this.

Think the fact we concede so few goals - only the top 3 teams in the past 2 seasons could better our defensive record - shows there’s probably not a glaring issue with Gueye leaving holes in midfield.

The bigger issue with our midfield is moving the ball forward and our ability to pass the ball about, which we need to get somebody next to Gueye who has the quality to do that. The links to Douglas Luiz make sense.

In my opinion I don’t think Garner is of the quality to be an effective attacking midfielder in the Premier League. He's combative and has decent technique but I just don’t see it with him but would happily be proven wrong.

He will be a late Aug loan signing I’d imagine
