2024/25 David Moyes

Moysie was always lousy pre-season. See that nothing has changed.

We also have a number of players that look wildly out of place and barely championship level when they lack match fitness and confidence… but get most of the way there in the end.

Not saying it shouldn’t be better, or that August won’t be a write off as we sort out recruitment, but our performances individually and as a team will be dramatically different in time.

I reckon he sees some similarities with when he took over at United. That squad needed a huge amount of work and they had a shocking window. Couldn't get anything over the line until Fellaini on deadline day, and for a higher price than his earlier release fee.

He needs help and he isn't getting any.

Before Moyes came back there were rumours that he was insisting he had control of incomings and outgoings rather than utilising a DOF.

It was one of his non negotiable’s for returning apparently.

A lot of what Moyes is saying is now, reminds me of what he used to say about signings when he was here last time as well.

Moyes always makes these things drag on.....hence the nickname.

Yet he is now moaning things are taking time...when we all know he is a massive part of every deal.

All seems a bit strange.

Could be 1 of a few things.

Moyes doesn't have as much controll as we think
Players are just saying no / holding out.
We are low-balling every offer / or haggling for the best deal.
The recruitment team really are brand new / or just poor.
its all fine, and its smoke-screen and fluff.

Football is a business, not a charity. Sides through europe look to the PL as the chance to make some big profits, and sadly Everton has a reputation for getting fleeced, see mina, gomes, tosun... A good reputation takes a lifetime to build, a bad reputation takes one bad decision. And Everton are not in the having made one bad decision bracket.

Last season we were limping on playing 3 loans and a couple of geriatrics in league games, it was beyond bare bones stuff. These are the realities, we're closer to the bottom half of the league than the top, and no amount of bellyaching and cryarsing (not accusations) will change it.

Getting stable, and holding our own with our own players is a measure of progress for us.

So far as Moyes goes, he can't keep everyone happy, tell the truth and he's talking the club down. Talk up europe and cups, and he's full of bullspit. Flatters players no one is keen on, he's lying to himself. Calls out dross, he's lost the dressing room. Someone somewhere is always moaning. The internet and social media have just amplified that whinging.

At least we don't have dyche (or southgate!) battling it out grinding games down to 88 minutes of defense and a few set pieces.

This sums it up perfectly. Currently, Moyes is in a lose lose situation, with the words he is using and could be using. There will always be someone picking the bones about what he is saying, if it wasn't the words it would probably be the body language. If we had signed more players then the players probably are not good enough, they are too young, too old, too big, too small. With Moyes still getting picked apart by some because he is not bigging them up enough, or bigging them up too much.

Whatever we read, see and here on media only ever scratches the surface of whats going on.

I can understand Moyes frustration - there could be so many variables in this, you wouldnt know where to start.

We have a lot of work to do.

The thing I would ask... Brighton and the likes seem to be able to make signings, so why cant we?

Havent TFG bought some football analitics data company?

The reality is we are considered a bottom half table at best. In fact we have proven to all we are. There is no debate about that. So getting half decent players in is near impossible. We have to take chances in players potential and players we hope to regain their early career form.

All the rest of the excuses etc are only small fry to the clear one that we are recognised as a bottom half team.

Exactly. This lot will look miles better at certain points of the season. They always do.

Is anyone else fed up of us just writing August off every single year? At least it's only three games this year but they are actually three winnable games.
