Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I think Everton are not the most attractive proposition for many of these players and they are quite rightly considering all options before committing their future. I don't think wages or fees are the issue here. We're not going to be low balling clubs or agents.

Luiz, Fofana - both want to play in European competitions and will probably hold out in the hope that the opportunity presents.
McAtee - if we are interested, he will want to ensure that he has considered all options before choosing his next club
Both clubs they are at are in Europe

Oh goody, Jack Harrison has been mentioned again, my life is complete.

We take far too long getting deals over the line. It’s been the same for over 20 years. There is someone within who has been doing this for too long. Probably dawdles over the paper work and the process over and over 50 times or more before he finally accepts it’s good to go but in the meantime the player gets fed up waiting same with his agent and look elsewhere or another offer comes in and they highjack the player from us. Nothing gets done quick enough. This person needs to go. We have had numerous DOF’s etc all the same it’s someone else within they have to go to before things get signed off. We will be waiting now until deadline day or the last hour of it before we get anyone else in. It’s a joke. No wonder Moyes is so frustrated he’s calling them out.

We could ask Chelsea if we can sign their Brazilian youngster Estevao on loan for a year. They have about a million players so it is worth an ask and he is a very exciting wing prospect.

The bottom line is we need another 3 or 4 minimum to have a competitive squad.

They can't afford to hedge their bets on getting them later in the window and need to offset that risk by getting a couple in by the Roma game.

At this stage that means no more waiting on Luiz, McAtee etc, or at least on some of them. Get a couple in now that want to be here.

Get two done in the next week and then if the waiting game plays off, fine, for any of the preferred targets that are left. We should be looking for loans on top too.
City want 45 mil for Mcatee we are not paying that on a unproven youngster

But on attainability "you cant force players to sign, shrug", surely part of recruitment is identifying players who'd be willing to come?
Seeing this a lot in regards to our (lack of) business this summer. In theory I agree but what if the players they know are eager to join just aren't good enough?

Fellows for example might make a fine squad option/development player, but if we fill all of the holes in the starting 11 with that level of player we would be looking like strong relegation candidates imo.

I can forgive ambition to pursue better targets and to an extent we need to punch a bit above our weight this summer I think. The issue for me is them seemingly not knowing the ballpark wages and fee's we were going to need to pay for these players. Has come across like they've not completely done their homework.

I actually think a few have been willing and we haven't closed out the deals, either with clubs or players.

Im full sure we know what it would take to say get McAtee over the line and haven't done it.

That's why i think Moyes is annoyed.
45 million is what City want

Given the lows of the end of the Dyche era, and the skepticism of Moyes taking over. When you follow this up with better than expected results, positive play and the prospect of a rebuild and a new stadium…. while I didn’t expect this would be a one and done window, the club sure as hell know how to kill all optimism and momentum dead….

I appreciate it’s only coming into August but, come on Everton ffs.
