Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Waiting round for answers isn't even really the issue, the issue is not being able to convince them to come. Players will obviously want the best outcome for themselves and setting arbitrary cut off points just isn't really realistic in these type of negotiations, but you would hope that at least a few of the players would have been swayed by what we had to say/offer and so willingly sign up without waiting round for ages. It's the fact that we haven't managed to get anybody to do that that concerns me.

I wonder if our pitch has been more 'we're going places, new stadium, new owners' (harder to believe after the last few years) than 'we're your platform to prove you're capable of going to the next level and we'll give you X amount of playing time'.

Yeah, I said it yesterday too (so about 700 pages back) - we need at the very least a RB, RW and a CM.

Armstrong's had a good showing, but Tim has been quite poor imho.
Going say need imo need 2 rw and 2 cm and i kno that is alot to ask. Agree with you rb thought has been telling moyes has tried him defensively at rcb and at rwb for attacking .Then to take patterson off when went to 4 at the back just think not been impressed moyes.
If there wasn't a chance mate, we'd have moved on and we would have seen different links.

All four of them id say are waiting.

Do we blink and move down the list or stay in the race..........thats holding the tension and thats what we have a management team for to make those decsions.
Yeah is abit of a crap situation not really sure how long can leave it now

Harrison, Doucoure, Lindstrom, DCL, Young, mangala, Broja , Virgina - 8 players out who most contributed some decent minutes last season.

Barry, Alcaraz , travers, Aznou - 4 in (two fairly unknown youngsters who I doubt will impact us much to begin with a sub keeper and a player who was here last year)

Simple math shows how unbelievably short we are from last season alone.

Even victories like Fulham away last year were down in no small part to having Ndiaye and McNeill/alcaraz on the bench to be able to change the game on the 60 minute mark.

Clear now as we approach August that we need competitive first teamers in key positions , centre mid x2, right wing and right back as a minimum. I had high hopes for the summer but the way it’s worked out so far coupled with Moyes’ negative pressers isn’t filling me with hope.

You reckon? He’s still unemployed like.

I read there was a change recently, and players out of contact get paid for a month after release. Unless they've signed elsewhere. Probably explains why so many free agents haven't moved yet.

It is not funny, there are countless posts on here asking people to stop posting about Harrison signing cos it is not going to happen and its very boring.
It is very unimaginative tbh

I honestly think there's every chance we'll go back for him late in the window, if the price is right.

I certainly wouldn't bet against it, anyway.

OK, so if Charly was in the team end of last year, how exactly does this signing (1 of the 4 you have said) improve us from last year?

Wow it's like banging your head against a brick wall.

The way Moyes spoke about the kid from Bayern last night, then no he won't be replacing Myko anytime soon.

Barry will not be starting anytime soon.

Travers is a back up keeper and likely won't get a minute unless some cup games next year.

Finally I ain't got a clue what your last comment is about. Really don't make any sense mate.
Barry will be main starter within weeks of the season starting, The LB is better going forward then Myko and will be a better defender, let’s not forget you don’t go thru Barca and then Bayern if your not very good.

Yeah Travers will be back up and that’s that but was needed

Understandable when we had £0. Villa wanted him too, for the same reason - he was available for just a wage.

But on attainability "you cant force players to sign, shrug", surely part of recruitment is identifying players who'd be willing to come?

As I said yesterday;
I guess players will receive multiple offers and take time to consider their options. They are big moves/upheavals. Negotiations take ages on these contracts too. I don't know if there are many players that would improve us would jump at the chance of joining us. There's no point just signing players that are useless and want to join us. We'd have a squad of forum bedwetters taking us to the championship.

I would have retained Thelwell for another season. We’ve had too much change in a short period of time off the pitch. Moyes has been the only constant. Moyes knew what was needed but we didn’t have the football operations team in place at the start of the window and we’re trying to play catch up.
It was Thelwells choice to move on

But isnt that accepting you are signing players of a lower quality or lower down your list then the ones you may have in cross hairs right now - its a risk assessment really.

Id be inclined to hold the tension, ultimately its probably about three players of quality that are coming into the starting team - with he rest being squad options, right winger, 10 and centre midfielder - there will be fillers. But i dont think its mission impossible - to wait for high quality additions we have earmarked for the starting team at this point in the window mate.

In my opinion we have to have a couple in by August 8.

They surely have to have options outside the names we've heard for weeks. Moyes has his preferences clearly, but I wouldn't accept that other options have to be lesser players by default.

We have to mitigate now. The nightmare scenario is that we do no further business and head into deadline day wanting six players. We wouldn't get them all and such an approach would be sheer lunacy. It's all too easy to imagine them being left with egg on their face.

We have to cut our losses to an extent and ensure we have a squad capable of sustaining the season. Plan A hasn't worked.

I said that to the wife this morning, she said the should send the team to the local playing fields for a game, but they’d probably still get beat.
TFG may be good at the business, stadium loans etc. side of things but the actual reason for it all ie. the football team, they appear fkn useless.
They own the club, saved us from going bankrupt, or sold to cowboys, paid off massive loans, finished the stadium and now started to remove the useless people who work at Everton with much better people, and given the club money to spend but yeah Fin useless
