Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

The targets themselves aren't a problem. But there's deffo something off with our approach.

Personally I think if the players are giving us a non committal response you have to set a deadline, say a week tops then walk away and go after someone else.

Similarly if we're haggling over a couple of million with the club just suck it up and pay what they want we don't have the leverage atm
I think we are either not matching valuations or giving the players the weekly wage they want

No, we’ve consistently bought players that are worse than our current starters or players we’ve sold. If we’d been bringing in players marginally better this whole time then we would’ve improved wouldn’t we? It actually computes perfectly.
You would improve but not by much at all which is my point. We have had a problem where we have ben chipping away with signings that are arguably slightly better or slightly worse than their predecessor, with no real leap in quality. We should be making sure that signings are a genuine step up. From looking at what people have been saying here and what I have read, Brownhill would be a bit of a sideways step.

I think we are setting over-ambitious targets. We're going for players who have it in their heads that they want to play in Europe. Luiz, Fofana, McAteer, Grealish - they are all unrealistic. The players we've signed so far - Alcaraz, Barry and the kid from Bayern - are happy just to join a PL team, any PL team.

That's our market.

For those that have watched the pre-season games, do Tim and Harrison loock good enough to be legitament contibuters to the squad?
If honest no Tim Iroegbunam just thought looked lost not really sure what type of player is, armstrong looked have something but the prem is a higher level. Think both need loan moves not up to the standard esp if gana not in the team

Not looking like we could get a pizza in the door at the minute let alone a player.

Started super high on our prospects for this year and each week I find myself lowering my expectations.

Even if we somehow manage to get the right players and numbers in, by now it looks inevitable that we will only be up to speed once an international break has arrived.

People are panicking and would be happy with pretty much anyone instead of players who improve the team, which is what they are trying to do

If we want to improve on last year that means we are realistically wanting a top half finish.

Given half of the PL got Europe last year, we need that level of player to overtake them.

We aren’t going to overtake the sides competing in Europe if we get players a level below European quality.

I was on the side of patience last week as I trusted the club. All of moyes quotes the past week do not paint the picture of smooth sailing. I am OUT on TFG

I just don't accept there are no players out there right now who are available and would improve. I don't accept any of these excuses. Everyone knew the situation with our squad months ago and it seems that no planning or preparation were carried out.
I find it incredible that we were not starting to speak to players and line deals up as soon as premier league survival was achieved last season. Maybe we couldn’t as TFG hadn’t got their team in place.

Starting to feel that we’ve changed too much too quickly off the pitch, and should have held onto the existing set up for a season (yes, even thelwell), knowing that the player side of things was going to be such a massive change in numbers and complexity, as @GrandOldTeam has said a number of times previously.

Difficult to know if that would have been better or not than where we are now, but I still have hope we are better off at the end of the window than we were before it.

We have no real idea if we are after Mcateer(City want 45 mil) or Grealish(Paddy said Everton distanced themselves from him) Fofana we made an enquiry of 30 mil not an actual bid(according to Paddy) doesn’t seem like we gone back in for him.
Have we had strong links with Luiz? Plus Kia a scumbag and we should try to avoid doing any deals with him.

If we are even in for these 2, which we dont really know
We don't seem to be "in" for anybody.

At this point, actions count. We've got a tiny handful through the door so far and a manager basically abdicating responsibility. By any reasonable judgement, this summer is not going well...

All of this is rectifiable, of course. But anybody preaching patience is basing their "confidence" on not a whole lot...

Had we won 2 more home games we would of been in Europe, had we had Moyes for the full season we would of had 60 points, we arnt as bad as people are making out
