Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I’d probably go and get Ndidi at this point. We need some experience/physicality in midfield and we can’t just have our eggs in a basket that will smash on deadline day.

Don't think we'd be able to cope without him, Gueye, Ndiaye and Aznou for the AFCON. Going to have to watch who we sign from here on in with an eye on that tournament and the impact it'll have on us.

He's played 3 seasons of PL football and scored 6 goals in total over them. Doucoure scored 7 in 23/24 alone in the PL. Last season looks like it is an outlier more than anything.

Again, James Garner is completely irrelevant to me asking what is Brownhill good at. I've openly stated I don't know much about Brownhill so I'm looking to be informed about him by people who want to sign him as I'd have imagined they've watched him play regularly. By ignoring that and being unable to provide me with an answer aside from "look, he scored 18 goals in the Championship", I'll have to take that as meaning that you've never actually watched them play.
Not Mike's biggest fan by any stretch but in fairness he was comparing him to Garner as a reference and he is right in terms of goals in the championship Garner came nowhere near 18 goals (8 in 81 games) and has only 1 premier league goal which is also poor.
Brownhill is a free so could be low risk option on a 2 year deal with option for a third. Wage expectations may not be that high either I would think.

Really don’t see the point of panicking 3 weeks before the season starts, much more important things in life then stressing yourself out over not having enough players for pre season friendlies.
We will sign players it’s just taking longer then we all thought it would including the manager
Just over a fortnight now.

We’d have to bring in 3 players a week just to meet what Moyes has already said is the minimum he needs.
We are averaging one a month.

All people are able to point out though about Brownhill are his goals which is why I'm dubious, as it's a clear outlier in his career thus far. Nobody has been able to actually say they've watched him play that much!

Douglas Luiz’s agent Kia Joorabchian is speaking to Edu at Notts Forest.

The talks are around a loan with an option to buy, which could potentially become an obligation under certain conditions

The FFP points deduction has contributed to Everton not being an attractive proposition. They really did screw is over.
I think the constant appointment of bad managers who play anti-football over the years has contributed to that more. We have a reputation amongst most football fans that is similar to Burnley and Stoke. Moyes used to get it already and his football was miles better than the likes of Dyche and Allardyce. Years and years of being a laughing stock is coming home to roost.

The only thing that's really frustrating me now is that our leadership team and TFG must see that they need to move the needle. If they slightly overpay or offer slightly higher wages than they want for a Fofana, Kubo or Grealish, it is a signal of intent.

As it stands, any prospective player looks at a basket case club, that they associate with anti-football, has no squad and is bereft of quality players. Each player wants to see who is brought in before committing. It is a proper chicken and egg situation, so TFG need to move the needle. You could tell from Moyes' press conference last night that we are nowhere near signing anyone.

In fairness he's a kind of nondescript but not awful player, so it is quite difficult to say specifically what he's good at. He's quite similar to someone like Garner in that sense, he's just a sort of decent footballer who isn't out of his depth at this level. I would certainly want better than him, but as a squad filler alongside some actually good signings I could get on board with it. Not sure we've really been linked though.

I find it hard to believe that Moyes (and I'm a fan) isnt fully abreast of what is going on with our transfers. He is deflecting as most managers do, passing the buck to keep the fans on his side. This is done every season by lots of managers and is to be expected. He is also putting pressure on those above to increase the budget that was agreed as money talks and gets things done quicker...
Of course we want our business done as early as possible so does every other team, but if we want our key targets we may have to wait. There will be deadlines set internally that at some point to walk away and proceed to option 2 or 3 but if there is still a realistic chance to get No. 1 then it is better to wait. In fact I would be surprised if Option 2 and 3 were not being worked on in tandem. I think there will be some very attractive loan options near the end of the window too.
I think we will add 6 more probably sign 3 more players and bring in 3 loan players.
Sit back people, enjoy the ride, remember where we have been for the last few years (more than a few) and be grateful that we are in a position to have spent over £50m already and be giving out we haven't signed more players! UTFT 💙 💪
