Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

If you haven’t watched the two pre-season games against premier league opposition and you think people are bedwetting then you are in for a bit of a shock.

We’ve looked less fit as them, we have a really weak and thin squad and the football has been sloppy and nowhere near the levels of the opponents, apart from maybe 20 minutes against Bournemouth.

Coming back from the USA on the back of 3 defeats to PL opponents isn’t a good look for any team.

The people calling it bedwetting are the same people who thought it was a good idea to give calamity Keane another contract.

Not only have we got a thin squad, it’s also filled with a handful of players who aren’t good enough, like Patterson, Keaneto to name but 2.

Devils advocate time

Everyone assumes the players are saying 'no, for now' means because they are waiting for better options in terms of CL etc.

What if the no is because we are offering say 80k PW and those players are demanding 150k. Is the want CL almost a way of saying we want the wages the likes of Chelsea and United pay for 19-21yo players.

If so it becomes a game of chicken between the clubs and players now, once the huge wage payers have do either business you will have a lot of players wanting moves still, sat on contracts of 20-40k in France or Germany etc or on first pro contracts here - are they gonna insist to the point of not getting moves for maybe 80k and end up earning that 20-40 or do they compromise and take the 80....

I think you are seeing a bit of a power struggle between clubs and agents/players on gaining back some form of upper hand.

Be interesting the later it goes towards the end of the window - agents require those moves to keep the money rolling.
Spot on. We used to get players quite easily before because of the wages we used to offer, especially in the early moshiri years. Now we offer same than any other prem team outside top 7/8...I bet you even villa now offers more than us when signing players. We need to prepare to spend more because we are currently not attractive due to the lack of European football. That's what Newcastle did, and it worked for them. The only thing is that we can not make the same mistakes than in the early moshiri years. We need the right players for those big wages. The reality perhaps is that TFG dont want to spend more than the others even if we have the psr room. They dont have to do it with roma which is very attractive as a football club. Unless they change strategy, they will never be successful here, at least not in the short to medium term.

Moyes wouldn’t be talking about bringing in 7 / 8 / 9 if they didn’t have an idea what that looked liked - it’s not in his make up to bullshit. Loan signings I imagine are lined up already but won’t happen till the death. Second choices they will be confident with. If riding out a few more weeks to get our first choices in is needed then so be it

People said this a month ago...

I see Zat went full The President mode after I went to sleep last night.

A few people need throwing in cells.

You think because you write these long laborious,quasi-analytical posts that they are somehow deserving of an equal retort....well they're not.

Your post was just that "BALLS,"

Not one of your posts comes from balanced, fair minded thinking.

It's easy to see your hatred for Moyes because it seeps right through anything you post, and leaves you unable to deal with actual facts.

Your hatred is that strong you openly admitted to not celebrating a 94th winner because he picked Doucoure, which led me to believe you're not actually an Evertonian.

I think you're more just someone obsessed with Computer games and scouting players though a PC monitor, which is fine but I'd suggest you'd stay in that lane👍

Is that Riposte any better?

Why even reply if youre going to write a dick comment and be a dick ?

Find somewhere else to put yourself.

Writing dick comments and then making some kind of 'agenda' up is pointless...

...who says im writing to you? Just ignore the post.

This has not been a good window so far for us, that’s plain to see, but other than a few top teams who can splash the cash for fun, who has had a good window?

Probably only Sunderland - who perhaps are gambling offering contracts we will no longer risk. Other teams around us weakened in quality not just numbers - Glasner echoing Moyes saying he is down to bare bones, with Eze still likely to go. Brentford having a fire sale and Wissa still wanting out. Wolves doing very little etc…

Towards the top, Newcastle have struggled - secured Elanga but Isak wants out. Villa - no one of note. Forest - perennial transfer madness has not happened.

I think the divide between those with the money and those without has never been bigger and is having a huge impact. Agents all holding out for a payday, but there are only so many to go around. As and when Chelsea and co shut up shop and say their business is done I think it will be chaos and will have our chances. In our favour is that we don’t need to appear to sell to buy, so can avoid being in a chain so to speak but as we’ve seen for so many years and Moyes is suggesting, we’re not good at getting things over the line. Kinnear has said it will be later in the window but by the time it is closed we will have an exciting team. Time will tell.

I suspect have only one or two more signings to make and the rest will be loans and loans traditionally happen late in the window

I'd very happily take two signings + late loans now. The question is can we make those signings in the next week or so, to the level good enough to offer some starting options.

That would ease the pressure to a large degree.

A Garner and Iroegbunam centre midfield doesn’t set the pulse racing either. I think that this point it’s less about setting the pulse racing and more about actually fielding a team that can compete against other Premier League team
Personally I don't want to see Garner in any midfield, I honestly don't see what he brings to the table, no assists, scores very rarely, just not good enough as far as I'm concerned
