….all of us can only go from links and Moyes’ comments but the indication is we’ve not been able to get deals over the line for prime targets. That doesn’t suggest to me that the owners are not financially supporting us and see us as a secondary asset. Indeed, it suggests to me the exact opposite.

We’re fishing for expensive, in-demand footballers with plenty of options besides Everton. Players like that are the most difficult to acquire but that’s not the fault of the owners. If we are after these players, I can only determine the owners have given the recruitment team their backing and are letting them get on with their job.
