Think they have, but it's strange to think all these later I still know the lyrics to most, but ask me to solve a quadratic equation that's a different matter.

We didn't have to sing in school in the morning, but instead every single day before the first class began we had to stand up, look at this speaker up in the corner of the classroom and recite the pledge of allegiance to the flag, with our hand over our heart while the principal recited it over the PA system.

Pretty weird now that I think about it.

A man bought a watch, a chain, and a locket for $216. The watch and locket together cost three times as much as the chain, and the chain and locket together cost half as much as the watch. What was the price of each?

W+C+L=216......x
W+L=3C..............y
2C+2L=W...........z

sub z into x

3C+3L=216 (divide by 3)
C+L=72

use this in x

W=216-72
W=144

check, z into y

2C+2L+L=3C
2C+3L=3C
-> 3L=3C-2C
3L=C..............................use this here 'C+L=72'
3L+L=72
L=72/4=18
