Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

On his return from injury 1 goal and 3 assists in 231 minutes, 3 of which were from open play

Never understood the hate McNeil gets. I understand he's slow and one-footed but he gets decent numbers every year. Always high on chances created too. If we sign a great right winger he can become a really solid bench option for attacking mid/wing.

It’s bizarre.

Most of us were ecstatic we were having the mass exodus of garbage this summer, and knew we needed to replace players.

Now, because Jack Harrison and doucure aren’t there and they played so many minutes for us it’s a big issue?! Dafuq?

I’m still pissed we kept Michael Keane ffs.

It’s a big issue because we haven’t replaced them, which was always we intention.

We have 17 senior players.

Whenever there are whispers in here of teams bidding for Branthwaite, for example, it’s full of shouts like “Tell them it’s £100m or they can do one.”

This is just that. They don’t want to sell him, but they’re also not stupid. If we cough up objectively stupid money, of course they’ll sell.
He's being priced out of a move to about 99% of clubs because they clearly want to keep him, which is fair enough. The market is still utterly bonkers though and stuff like this is part of the reason.

Also - the fee we're asking for Branthwaite is more than reasonable either way. Como's fee for Diao really isn't.

Let’s see where we are at the end of the window. I am still happy with the majority of the players we let go not being around, think we are immediately better off in some cases as well (Barry).

I agree that we could have moved much quicker on transfers, and hate going into the season under strength and under cooked, but there’s still time to remedy the numbers at least. The undercooked part might be a bigger issue, so whoever comes in will need to hit the ground running - we never seem to do new signings much favours on that score.

I didn't misinterpret anything, and absolutely nobody has said we don't need better. It seems a bit like you've just come into the conversation half way through, waded in with no idea what you're talking about and made a bit of a prat of yourself.

I replied to a post which said that only 3 of the players we'd lost were actually important by saying that although Harrison might be rubbish, he was still a regular member of the team and so ignoring him completely seemed a bit daft. The same poster has gone on to state that he would like to see us start the season with the team which started against Newcastle. Guess who started that game mate?

Anyway, what's going on in here?

Is this transfer window with it's associated angst the worst it's ever been? I don't recall last summer being this awful.

Imagine thinking that someone saying 'we need to replace Harrison' must mean that you're talking specifically about doing it with someone of the same level. Some of these people are allowed to vote. Jesus wept.

No mate, replacing him apparently means a like for like replacement. Same hair and everything.
