Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

The previous regime gave the new regime too much to do this summer.

The squad was so numerically drained, the director of football’s contract ran out and the whole football operation needed reconstructing.

I think the biggest issue the recruitment team is facing is that we need to buy quantity at the same time we’re trying to upgrade on quality.

You can buy lots of players, and you can buy good players - doing both is very difficult.
I still think there should have been more overlap between the handover of the old system to the new .
Some of the recruitment team are still not officially able to operate yet .
It needs to be remembered the situation approaching the end of last season was widely regarded as an opportunity for a reset , rather than a major obstacle to progress.
Viewing from the outside , as we are , it currently appears not enough preparation was done prior to the window opening .
It may be an erroneous perception but it is clear things are not proceeding as quickly the manager would like .

I doubt Moyes is being naive. He said what he intended to say. This is not his first day at the office. In the past, mutually-assured destruction was his friend. He knew he needed Kenwright as he built his career and Kenwright knew he needed Moyes to be his trusty sword, scabbard, and shield. It made sense that the two of them presented a united front despite whatever tensions played beneath the surface. When he didn't need Bill, he was off.

Moyes knows that if recruitment fails this summer, he's not long for the Dock. He probably expected more. I know I did - and I wasn't expecting miracles.

I'll rephrase it then. It's not naive, he's possibly been absolutely stupid for a manger of his experience and pedigree saying what he did if it was a political ploy.

This doesn't mean I'm Moyes out btw.

Just showing y'all hardly anyone has done anything outside of the big guns. Mostly newly promoted teams trying to stay up, and a lot of last seasons loans turned perm.

I’m not interested in what everyone else is doing because none of them have a squad of 17 senior players.

Yes, considering this was presumably an attempt to leverage some pressure on the CEO and owners, he could have done that without confirming we are a tough sell for players.

That said, in a press conference environment, and probably feeling generally stressed anyway, it can be hard to discipline your every utterance to that extent. He is human like us all.
This is true he is human. However, I know if I was the one trying to close the deals I wouldn't have been happy with his candour as it'd not make my job any easier, especially when I've only been here 5 minutes.
