- States that the squad ended the season well (generated a 'lot of positivity that has been carried over') and, in an ideal world, 'wouldn't even need any new players';
- Describes the OOCs/loanees who've left as 'gaps to try and fill' but will only look to do it with players who'll improve the current squad - a perfectly reasonable stance to take.

Where does much if any of that suggest that he thinks that we're in trouble/is panicking about the size/state of the squad? or indeed, that we should've already been backfilling the squad with players that he'd ordinarily deem not good enough to kick us on next season?

He's clearly frustrated with the pace in which new players are being brought in - not with the squad itself.

The lack of patience on display from a section of Evertonians every summer continues to baffle me..

Aznou, Barry, Alcaraz were these obvious?

Even the likes of Branthwaite, Mykolenko, Ndiaye. Were these very obvious signings at the time?

Bundesliga, La Liga , Played for Southampton. So all pretty obvious. Scouting department knew that we'd need players so should have had targets and done ground work on players from leagues around the world . We'd never sign a Mitoma or Enciso for example .

Where did I say we “didn’t need” one? We certainly don’t need one as much as we need competent CM’s and wingers that will actually play games btw.

I'm glad to hear that because some of the squads we have fielded for August matches in recent years have been woeful. It's not coincidence our record in August is abysmal and our recruitment is also rubbish and last minute.

Especially as we have a relatively kind August. Opportunity to take points and gain momentum, if Moyes has a competitive startling 11. Still some holes on that and any new signings will naturally have a bedding in period to go through too.

You are desperately scrambling around to justify a stance that makes no sense here.

Moyes is not happy, however you want to dress his words up and try and twist them into something else. Maybe Onyango getting significant minutes over the next 2 games will wake you up, then again who am I kidding, of course it won’t.

Im actually pretty happy with those Moyes comments its what you want to see. If im putting a senior management structure in place like we have under TFG in the last six months, what i want to see is productivity but also natural tension. You want questions being asked, you want people being challenged, you want accountability. What we have just seen from Moyes is massively healthy.

From an overall plan implementation point of view we have seen productivity, we have four in the door we have a squad of 20/21. Arguably of greater quality and potential then the players who have vacated the squad places at the end of last season. Do we need to abandon the plan for the window at a critical point - absolutely not - this is a critical point when the most business will be done and availability is at its highest, you can be flexible in your plan but never abandon it - mid implementation. What Moyes is essentially saying to his recruitment colleagues is we have two deadlines coming up the PL and End of Window, we need to be more productive.

Away from strategy and if I'm interpreting what he is saying and what is happening so far i would say this. Hes talking about specific players, i suspect we know what it takes to get McAtee done and havent done it, i suspect we know what Lyon want for Fofana and havent done it, Sociedad for Kubo etc etc and prob an awful lot of different players we arent aware of. Part of what the management team has done in recruitment this summer has been to spend a lot of time negotiating to get best value in deals - thats been one of the objectives. We spent three weeks negoating down the Barry deal. What Moyes is signalling here is there comes a point if you want to get deals over the line - that you go and pay the £35 mill each for McAtee and Fofana if you want them and that any deal isnt held up on our side.

As said i think what we are seeing here isnt a reason for blind panic, Moyes knows exactly what hes doing here - hes using the media and fans to raise the tension with the recruitment team to get deals over the line instead of over negotiating. Thats what you want in a management structure a natural tension. While we have been productive, Moyes is signalling we need to be quicker, more decisive, committed, bolder and agile, because in the next week or so we are hitting the apex of the market.

We keep our heads here, but recognise the need for commitment and stealth - we're getting to the business end now.

I have and fellows is not quick at all, decent first step or two which he uses to shift and create room to get his crosses in, he's not McNeil levels slow - slower than Lindstrom was though and a bit faster than Harrison.

My Ramadan doing a three way compassion between him McNeil and Fofana though is mental, Fofana is absolutely rapid, McNeil is possibly the slowest winger I've seen in the league. Fellows is just not fast.

Nothing massively controversial there and you can see the plan, they want the good players and then to buy squad fillers rather than the other way around.

Because clearly at least part of the strategy this summer was to look to the future mate. Think Travers is a cracking little signing personally.

That is certainly a positive way to look at it,but the future starts now,and we are wading in a big pool of that’s getting deeper and smellier with every news-less transfer day that passes.

There's also the very clear reason trams do t do this is that the extra season or two they spend after leaving say Belgium to play in France or Portugal is what they need to develop to the level they can play regularly in the Premier League.

If we buy someone straight from Belgium say there's a god chance he isn't ready and either stagnates getting very few minutes or is loaned out - we don't have the financial ability to be paying 10-15+m for a player who isn't ready to play.

Case in point if Chermiti would have moved to a French side there's a chance he may have ended up developing very nicely and have been getting brought to the premier league for 30m this season the way we did with Barry.

Yeah this is a pretty basic point that people seem to miss/ignore all the time. Trying to miss out the middle man isn't always going to be the best way to handle these things, there's a pretty enormous difference between coming over here at 18 and being thrust into the ruthlessness of the PL and progressing steadily with less pressure and expectation at a slightly lower level before making the big move when you're ready. Obviously you need to try and be ahead of the curve sometimes but it's not quite as straightforward as sometimes gets made out.

What I am saying is I’m glad we’re trying to sign really good players, not settling for getting good players in early

We should be aiming for better players than Bournemouth or Brighton as was said earlier, not being excited by doing as well as them, we are Everton

In my opinion, it is worth the risk of maybe having to settle for good players later in the window, to try and sign very good players instead

If you don’t agree, I think your ambition isn’t high enough for this club
