Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

0 plan and 0 idea...... At this moment the Leeds game is going to be a real eye opener for some on here!

What should happen for the Leeds game is we put out a team extremely similar to the one that finished the season so well.

A solid back 5

Garner and Gueye in the middle

McNeil Alcaraz Ndiaye behind Beto or Barry.

Even then we’d still have Barry Aznou Irogebunam Armstrong Chermiti Keane Patterson Coleman sat on the bench.

If Leeds is a total shambles it’s because the fitness of the team and their preparation isn’t correct because at the end of last season that same 11 would probably have gone there and won considering it was doing that at Fulham Forest and Newcastle. It won’t be because we haven’t bought in 5 first team players.

It's clear that we've made a mess of recruitment.

It's one thing being ambitious, it's quite another executing on that ambition. We seem to have over-reached and are now panicking. This means bad decisions - made in haste - now become more likely.

We need someone to add a little magic dust to the Everton proposition - whether that's one glamorous player who can attract others, or a manager who people want to play for.

If we don't have that, then it's really up to the manager to get the best out of what he can get in.
Or we just need to meet valuations that clubs want, which I’m guessing we arnt and that the hold up

He is a bit quicker than McNeil but is not quick and pacy.

First link says he is quick and EA have decent stats for pace/acceleration? Compared to their stats for McNeil he is quick?

We might not be able to. Both our best centre halves are currently out. They might be back in time, but they probably won't be fully up to speed.

It seems like that doesn't matter if a player is waiting on a Champion League club.

At least, it doesn't matter until the player has no better options.

So if we get players like this in, it will be at the end of the window.

Our lack of recruitment/scouting infrastructure is showing.

We need to be targeting players like Fofana before they ‘make it’.

Fofana cost Lyon €17m from Gent in 2024. Now he’s double that and wants champions league football.
100% every manager and fan knows this, unfortunately, we are in a situation where we cannot pay 17mil for players that are either a gamble or at least not ready to start in the prem(look at Chermiti). Our squad size and financial restraints mean we need to have players that are ready.

I imagine the plan is to buy ready to go players, get a foothold in the top half of the table, enjoy the exrta financial benefits that bring and THEN we can start on that model. Until then it is just not very viable.

This is down to injuries again with Everton, it would be the second season in a row that Branthwaite hasn’t started because he’s injured.

I think Tarkowski is back in training now so he should be ready.
