Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

…the debacle was having so many players out of contract at the same time. Some of us were warning about zero continuity planning way in advance.
This regime has a mess to fix and it’ll take quite a few windows to do so.

The squad is threadbare but the team for Leeds on 18th Aug should be as least as good as the one that finished the season so effectively under Moyes. The window closes on 1st September and I expect we’ll be doing plenty of business up to that date.

So far, so good.
I think the manager disagrees with you there eggs

I hoped that with TFG and the changes they made around the club we would see a different Everton in this transfer window but no same old dithering mess. I am all for tough negotiating and talking away from a deal that isn’t in our interests but surely we can’t walk away from them all.

I still think we'll be fine, Moyes pushing publicly for transfers IN to be concluded, saying how many new faces are needed. Every signing so far has been worthwhile, and we really don't want to waste a bunch of money again just after getting back into a good solid position to rebuild.

Yes it's not ideal for them to not already be done, but it isn't as easy as throwing a bunch of extra goal bonuses and appearance bonuses onto the contract on Footy Manager. Especially when we seem to be targeting actual improvement to the first 11 (which in my opinion is the right approach, as we have the likes if Patterson, Garner, McNeil, Myko) all still starting week in week out. The kind of players that need to be improved upon and phased out to squad players.

Yes we could go out there and bulk out the squad with more McNeils and Garners, but that doesn't actually achieve anything to push us on.

This! I’d be concerned if we weren’t aiming for quality additions but….we are, just slowly

They clearly haven’t been “dithering” at all. You can’t force your top targets to sign! We just aren’t attractive enough to the top players at the moment unfortunately but you can’t blame the manager and recruitment team for being ambitious and trying to get them in.

This was Glasner yesterday. Very similar to Moyes. Think a massive part of the issue is managers wanting players (perfectly reasonably) a few weeks before the season but that simply isn’t the deadline. Only the actual deadline forces action not one in the minds of one of the three negotiating parties. Hence why we, they, most of the league are stalling.

This is pretty normal stuff across the board and the only solution is to bring forward the transfer deadline but they tried that and reverted back.
