Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Just over 2 weeks until the season starts on the 15th August.

I assume players have to be registered before the 15th August to be eligible for the first round of games.

It will take something special to sign the players we need in that time.
We won't, clearly. I'd advise to just not fuss too much over it personally.

We should still be too good for Leeds…

I’ll be getting my Moyes Out! pitchfork ready just in case…

Adam Aznou has now completed his medical at Pall Mall in Liverpool and is now expected to sign contracts this afternoon and do signing photos/interviews etc at HD stadium.

Official club announcement could come as early at tonight but more than likely tomorrow morning.

He will to fly to Atlanta from Manchester airport tomorrow and be involved in Sundays game vs Manchester Utd..

Setting a fixed value you won't go above for a player as a club time sounds great in principle, in reality it means if you've misjudged the market place then you risk ending up missing out your primary and secondary targets.

Truth is overpaying for players is not what gets a club in a mess, it's overpaying on wages that does.

Check out our overall spending and what we recouped from sakes under moshiri up until the point we got in a financial mess. Net spend was actually pretty low surpassed by most teams in the league - what killed us was offering salaries like we had the income of the rs. Mina, Iceland, Williams, Bolassie, Allan, etc yes we overpayed on fees for most, but the killer was we then paid them commensurate salaries according to the fees - Iceland was on around 30-40k at the swans - cos we paid so much for him we then upped his wages to around 130-150k, Williams similarly went onto around 100k pw from around 30.

Pay Lyon what they want, pay city what they want - it won't really do much to us - as long as we don't suddenly throw 130k offers to Fofana and Mcatee.

Forest for example will spend big on fees over the odds even, but on wages they had MGW and Elanga on 80 and 60k PW.

Under moshiri it seemed like he had this idea that spending huge fees has to have huge wages attached almost like that made the player more valuable or better by doing so.

Fofana and Mcatee should both be players we match whatever offers they have it ideally exceed them in order to narrow down competition. IF we want to genuinely build a team which can progress being too rigid on valuations isn't the way to do that.

You won’t be saying that if we are getting tonked with a threadbare squad in August!

….i will. They’ll ultimately be judged on results, I just welcome the fact they’re not going to be held to ransom or pay over the odds on their valuation or salary. Of course, there’ll be wiggle room on valuation.

None of us know what’s being discussed or the figures involved, none of us know the reasons why transfers might drag on. I do think players tend to go where they prefer, that’s where the deals are done.

Convinced this Hammond fella’s desperately trying to impress his new employers by saving them a few quid, in turn completely ballsing up our most important transfer window in years. There surely comes a point where you pay slightly above asking price to secure these top quality targets we supposedly want?
Deadline day, 11PM…
