Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

This is why we’re not getting any of the following players as things stand:

Dougie Luiz - on big wages - Juventus won’t accept dry loan / so mandatory fee is €38m after 12mths

Malick Fofana - Lyon wants €40m+ but it’s not the fee it’s his agents Roc Nation wanting him to join a bigger club and the hard place we’re not in Europe let along UCL.

Takefusa Kubo - Sociedad don’t want to sell and but if they did would want close to his €60m release clause as Real Madrid get 50% sell on of any profit.

Yeah not for me this one, don't think he is worth anywhere even close to the figures being quoted.

I think you have to invest in the player they could be also though, Pickford probably wasn’t worth the guts of 30 mill when we signed him, 8 years on - that’s a snip - wonderful service and no one even thinks of the fee.

There are long term and short term signings, you go big in investment or you go short - this strikes me as the former.

Your 'sauces' said yesterday that there was no plans to talk to Sociedad?

Sorry but I just don't rate him, he either comes in and plays on the RW (he isn't good enough and he is too slow to play there) or he will take the Alcaraz position and tbh I think Charley will be a better player long term.

Completely disagree mate, I like Alcarez but Mcatee is a very special player just needing to be the focal point of a side

There is nothing I have seen about him or looking at any of his numbers that suggest a 'special player' quite the opposite in fact. Do you think if he was it would be us, Forest and West Ham in for him?

Yet absolutely nobody was in for Alcarez whatsoever - so he must t be very good by that logic?

We signed Lukaku and nobody else was interested mate, same when we brought in Arteta and others.

This logic is a bit warped. Do you not rate Gibbs-White either? Because it was only us and Forest in for him at the time. What about Eze, it was only Palace and West Ham in for him at the time I think?
