Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We’re about to sign our fourth player today mate.

That takes the squad to 21. (Despite what some head bangers say).

There is loads of time in the window yet.

Wel be grand!

We’ve also not been shy at paying agents at all under Moshiri.
Calling it 21 players is just disingenuous. Still no right wing or decent right back. Midfield is lacking in quality.

Pickford, Travers, Branthwaite, Tarkowski, O'Brien, Keane, Coleman, Mykolenko, Patterson, Coleman, Garner, Gueye, Alcaraz, Iroegbunam, Armstrong, McNeil, Ndiaye, Beto, Barry, Chermiti and new boy Aznou. Coleman is pretty much broken. For many matches was he fit last season? Iroegbunam, Armstrong and Chermiti should go out on loan or they are being done a disservice. Patterson is patently not good enough and should be shipped out. I would rather play Keane at CB so that J'OB can play RB than have him on the field.

We've needed about 5 players to come into the starting XI.

With three weeks to go until the first game we'll have brought in:

Barry - we're all happy to sign him, but no idea if he'll adapt to the league and most clubs in the division would see him as an up-and-coming talent, not somebody to come in and revolutionise the side.

Alcaraz - again, promising but hardly proven. Did ok last season, but hardly set the place on fire. Ndiaye is far superior if you compare them 1:1 as central attacking midfielders.

Taverner - strong backup, no complaints at all.

Aznou - I'll be delighted to see him join and could prove to be a great signing in the long run, but he's not walking into the starting line up.

The main areas we've needed to address, RW, RB, CM and a properly proven striker, we haven't come anywhere close. I don't see how anybody could be satisfied if we ended the window with striking options of Barry, Beto and Chermiti only.

DCL to Barry.
The Duke to Charly
Virgina to Mark
Young to Aznou.

I think it’s hard man that says that isn’t an improvement in quality and potential mate.

We need to replace and improve on Harrison, Lindstrom and Mangala now. I think that’s a very easy job to be honest and I think we will blow big money in doing it.

Prob do something at right full - be a Coufal or the like.

A whole five weeks of the window to go, wel be grand. As been said already this morning, actually having so much time still to go in the window, actually isn’t helpful for us with players dragging their heels and waiting.

I’ve bad news for on the striker front, be amazed if anyone come in beyond Barry, Beto or Chermiti be a bid mad in truth.

It's not ideal, but if other big sides are out of funds by deadline day and there are a few top players wanting and waiting on a move- doing deals will effectively by easier with no competition.

Take Mikautadze at Lyon for example, not seen many links. But if deadline day comes and he's been on our radar and other sides have done all their business, there's no time left and less options on the table for the player.

Think we get one or two in pretty late on, it's frustrating as hell. But as long as they're signed and in the squad by the end of the window we'll be OK.

Is this true ?

I’ve just had a Quick Look from season 19/20 to when we basically bought nobody in 24/25 and it’s

4th 19/20
7th 20/21
7th 21/22
10th 22/23
18th 23/24

Now given our spending over this period it looks like we probably spend a lot more than others on agent fees
Traditionally I said, I consider the reckless Moshiri years to be outliers!

Yeah tbh I think if you said to me as soon as the final ball was kicked last season that by the end of July we’d have:

Got rid/not renewed DCL, Doucoure, Young, Harrison, Lindstrom, Mangala, Broja

New deal for Gana

Contract extension for Branthwaite

No sales of star players

Permanent deal for Alcaraz

Three new signings in new striker, new LB, backup keeper.

I probably would have taken it.

There’s still a bit to go but it’s night and day for me ti previous windows when the media was just continuously briefed on sales before transfers can be made, at least one star will need to go before June 30th, deals limited to loans or no money upfront etc.

Genuinely been looking back over the last few pages for links to James or Marcus Tavernier FFS...
