Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Don't like those comments from Moyes at all. It's one of the things I've absolutely not missed about him, the dreariness. The defeatist attitude. I don't get why he's like that, he's had such a good managerial career all things. Really overachieved.

Dyche spoke in similar terms and got pelted for being a nobhead who didn't understand the club's history or size. Yet Moyes is coming out with stuff like this? Horrible messaging.

Of course you don't want a manager over promising, but at least sound like you're up for it and you want the supporters to come on the journey with you. The likes of Klopp, Conte and Emery are brilliant at it. Why can't we ever have a manager who hits the tones just right ffs.

There should be a Football player / agent version on Tinder that DoF and Managers - could filter and search on:

For example CM looking to move - Moyes could swipe right on Dougie Luiz.

It could be faster and save all the heartache of the chess games currently involved for an ultimate heartbreak
I'm pretty sure that there is an app that does that already. Moyes keeps downloading then deleting it once he gets no interest, then downloads it again after a couple of days just to see what's out there.

Don’t think we are purposefully waiting to the end of the window mate, but players are waiting for what they perceive as better deals.

Take Fofana, he may come - but he might also end up at say Chelsea of Bayern. If the three possibilities are on the table for him now and Bayern and Chelsea are saying we need to wait a few more weeks - then the player isn’t deciding to come here in the third week in July. That’s what’s going on in multiple sections but the sound of it.

Your choice is you can stick the plan, hold the tension, don’t cave or you cave and go for, for want a better word Lindstrom down on his luck with potential fixer upper profile - we can get loads of them straight away.

Our transfer window open in August, like it or not, we are at whims, of market forces even if we have the best recruitment team in the world.
This is bang on.

It’s essentially a huge food chain and we are currently somewhere in the middle of that. Fofana has likely had tentative approaches from a few clubs and he’s now in a catch 22… Everton have seemingly upped the ante and are trying to force an answer. He can come to us but by doing so may miss out on one of the very big boys..

I actually believe McAtee is further down our list and he’s likely waiting on us before deciding his next move, likewise with Hackney, we could pull the trigger immediately and he comes here or we can wait and he eventually gives up hope and takes the Ipswich option.

It really is a game of dominos and the first one to fall (in our sphere of interest) is crucial to how the window plays out

Everton have traditionally been against paying agents what they believe to be excessive fees. While laudable (because nobody likes seeing those utter snakes get rich for the next-to-nothing work they do), I can't help but think of how many quality players we've lost out on over the years.

As the days pass, Everton's transfer strategy is clearly going to have to change.

You've got Moyes and even senior players publicly saying the squad is in no fit state and they need a handful of new players at a minimum to even be ready to start the season, then you have the CEO Kinnear stating everything is going to plan and judge the transfers at the end of the window.

It's clear we're getting rejected right, left and centre by our first options—Tete, Delap, Fofana just three that immediately spring to mind.

Three weeks until the first game and the manager isn't even able to field a proper starting XI in friendly games.

Nobody wants to see the club get ripped off or overspending, but the season is clearly is huge jeopardy right now because obviously they can't send this squad into the opening games and just hope that the market opens up for us in the final few weeks (which is what Kinnear is indicating will happen), not when we not only need squad options but also several players to come directly into the starting XI.

The window has been a shambles so far and I can only imagine how Moyes, his coaching staff and likely most of the players are feeling: Three consecutive seasons of abysmal football and several tight relegation battles, and now they've seen a load of their teammates leave and a decimated squad left behind. Morale is probably shot behind the scenes.

Now is the time to get serious and make offers that still actually lead to players joining us. Look how quickly the likes of Liverpool are moving. Sunderland, Leeds, they've both dramatically improved their squads with loads of decent players.

I cannot believe what has (or rather, hasn't) happened this window when it should have been out with the old (both in terms of players and directors), and in with the new.

We’re about to sign our fourth player today mate.

That takes the squad to 21. (Despite what some head bangers say).

There is loads of time in the window yet.

Wel be grand!

We’ve also not been shy at paying agents at all under Moshiri.

None of the circumstances now facing the club would have been unknown to them prior to the summer.

So Moyes' comments don't carry water. It simply isn't a surprise that we are not an attractive proposition to many players of a certain profile. Though you would still expect to make a sufficient case to perhaps one or two of them to join, within reason. His comments do nothing to further that aim.

I'm not sure the depth of scouting and prep work has been done which might result in trying to sign players that would improve us and that we have a reasonable chance of getting.

It's absolutely right that they've seemingly been ambitious in who they've tried to sign but they also need to be both flexible and creative. Moyes' premium on experience is not turning out to be very practical for our needs.

It's a bit trite for him to say we don't want bad players! Their job is to find an acceptable medium of quality to improve a threadbare squad, and with the state of it, it shouldn't be that difficult, in a global market.

I'd really love to be able to both attract and afford the quality to propel us into Top 5 contention but if that isn't possible, we have to walk before we can run.

We’ve also not been shy at paying wages at all under Moshiri.
We've needed about 5 players to come into the starting XI.

With three weeks to go until the first game we'll have brought in:

Barry - we're all happy to sign him, but no idea if he'll adapt to the league and most clubs in the division would see him as an up-and-coming talent, not somebody to come in and revolutionise the side.

Alcaraz - again, promising but hardly proven. Did ok last season, but hardly set the place on fire. Ndiaye is far superior if you compare them 1:1 as central attacking midfielders.

Taverner - strong backup, no complaints at all.

Aznou - I'll be delighted to see him join and could prove to be a great signing in the long run, but he's not walking into the starting line up.

The main areas we've needed to address, RW, RB, CM and a properly proven striker, we haven't come anywhere close. I don't see how anybody could be satisfied if we ended the window with striking options of Barry, Beto and Chermiti only.

Its essentially at tipping point now. Stick another 30k pw on the wages or go down the list.

I'm not convinced Luiz Is anything more than BS. None of the decent sources over here have ran with it. Just dodgy Italian sources probably trying to flush out interest elsewhere

Oh wow thank god we’ve got a squad of 21 players. That’s a starting XI and 10 subs! You know what, do we even need any more signings when you add them all up?

It's like going up to a girl at 10 to 2 and saying "all the fit birds have knocked me back. You'll do and I'll even buy you half a snakebite"

Jesus christ.

Fans: why is there no communication from the club this is a outrage!

Moyes: this transfer windows been hard, were going for top players that'll improve us but they dont want to come to us unfortunately. We'll continue looking for the best players and are looking at top young up and coming talent to bring into the team.

Fans: hes saying anyone we bring in is going to be kack! Why dont the club just shut up!

You are all mental, like actually insane.

Is this true ?

I’ve just had a Quick Look from season 19/20 to when we basically bought nobody in 24/25 and it’s

4th 19/20
7th 20/21
7th 21/22
10th 22/23
18th 23/24

Now given our spending over this period it looks like we probably spend a lot more than others on agent fees
