Who is to blame for the lack of new signings?

Why do we have a lack of new signings?

I think this is a multi-layered question and a multi-layered answer. Wrong to blame TFG or the recruitment team as they've been left with some job following the previous incarnations, but I'm disappointed that we weren't further on than we are now, and much earlier on in the window.

We might not get the players in now that we need, but make no mistake, we still NEEDED them players to come in. Relying on players deemed not good enough in the main, in previous years, is a poor way to run the club. Up 💩 creek without a paddle.

The answer is TFG.

It's always TFG.

Its their decisions. It's their setup.

The poll should have just put;

Moyes
Recruitment/Leeds Exec Hires
TFG

I reckon Moyes has a different view on profiles of player. Disconnect. And/or the recruitment folk aren't good enough.
Ultimately the buck stops with TFG and it's up to them to get it working.

It was never going to be a walk in the park getting every deal done and dusted, because of the state of the squad after last season ended, but we're making it look unduly difficult.

Please vote and discuss what you think the reason is for the lack of new signings.
Mooms gone early here, maybe azul can lend a hand to mixing it up later.

For the record I believe kopite kev downed tools early on and concentrated on rangers signing, this board has no idea what we need less than a few months into the job.

Normally it is not a good look for a manager to be airing grievances about a lack of transfer business, so that alone should be enough to get the ball rolling. Looking over at Roma, Gian Piero Gasperini made comments about their window being less than ideal and within a week of those comments they had signed Neil El Aynaoui and Evan Ferguson.
He's never satisfied tbh. Yesterday he was asked if Wesley was a good addition. He replied "yes, but I'll have little time to work with him and we still lack players, do the math". According to the press, he still wants 3-4 additions after Ferguson, Wesley and El Aynaoui.
Imho he's still affected by the bad spell at Internazionale, where he was poorly treated by the management after being appointed as a cheap solution after Mourinho and Benitez. He's still perceived in Italy as someone who's done great things with relatively small teams without making the leap to the big ones. Perhaps he wants to make clear he's not a yesman.

Wouldn’t say anyone is at fault. I think by the looks of it we are going for the right players. However we aren’t top of their lists. They are happy to dangle some interest towards us, whilst waiting for a better deal to come along.

Problem is there is only so long we can wait for a player to make their mind up.

So they don't want to play for us is the option you need to vote for.

Can’t really judge this until it closes.
But it’s hard to escape a feeling of disappointment thus far.
As others have noted , I would have preferred to have retained Thelwell for this season .
Perhaps there should have been overlap between the outgoing system and the incoming one ?
But let’s see where we are when the season starts and then cast further judgement when the window closes in September.

If Thelwell had stayed, we'd have gnonto in by now, as well as Jack Harrison, and probably given in to the demands of Ashley young, dcl and Doucoure.

Who knows....TFG really ought to be knocking heads together in our recruitment department by now. Asking the questions as to why we haven't made more signings. After all, they are the ones whove spent the money buying the club. They are the ones paying wages. They've presumably told recruitment how much they have to spend and want them to get on with it.

Think that's unfair on Thelwell. My view is;

If it was my club, I'd have given Thelwell/Purdy a go with some money - we were definitely in for the likes of Gyokeres, Kudus, Wesley, Minteh, Elanga, Ekitike - but it was always £0 upfront or loan, and 'come and play for Dyche/point deduction FC lad' or relying on someone else moving as part of the arrangement.

Instead, we've... well, I'm not actually sure what we've done;

For the past couple of years, I've shared my view that this summer - a summer under new owners at Bramley Moore, will be our most important in Premier League era.

An opportunity for a rebuild, and lightning bolt through the club.

But I'm struggling to understand who will be responsible for that recruitment.

As in, ultimately responsible.

Is it TFG centralised structure/wider hierarchy?

Or is it localised?

Is it Moyes?

Why is a CEO, bringing in a transfer consultant with him from Leeds? The very fact press are reporting it's not a direct replacement for Thelwell says a lot.

So far, I'm thinking it's my own lack of understanding, but it would be nice to have a clearer picture soon on who is making the decisions on which footballers are coming in.

Thelwell should never have been let go.

Broke 'n windows are his thing.
