Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Looks like Lyon is using us to get better teams involved and get a bidding war for Fofafa.

Hmm, it sounds like his agent is trying to wish a CL club offer into existence. But if what they’re hearing is “yeah we like your guy but aren’t ready / don’t have space etc” then you could say “club x are interested” but it could also be just a polite no.

Maybe for once it’s not actually us being naive.

Players need to integrate with team mates, learn the tactics, formations etc. To need as many players as we do and be so close to the start of the season is not good enough.
Clearly we need to make our transfer kitty work and get the best quality of player we can, but, a team like ours really needs to be identifying the players that the top teams haven't discovered yet.
Either we get 4 loans and spend budget on 2 quality players. Or drop the expectations, and buy about 4 lesser known players (like Fellows) and get a couple of loans in.
Weather it’s good enough or not is irrelevant, the situation is what it is. I would much rather we wait for the right players than buy players that don’t progress us.

on one hand we all complain that this club never moves forward and then when there is a change in the way we do things we complain about that to.

We don’t know if this strategy is going to pay off, but why not give it a chance to find out.

This is the start of a long road of change it has to start here! I would rather strive for greatness than continue to circle the drain! Strategy requires long term thinking not short term knee jerk panicking!

Interesting if we enter a second bid, that alone tells you if the players interest is there or not. If we walk away now after one opening offer then yeah he's said not interested

I don't fathom the new narrative that Moyes is flustered and frustrated with the recruitment, the previous day he seemed pretty confident so in the span of one day he's panicked? He knew his squad numbers was lacking before yesterday. Also the whole Moyes is being let down by the recruitment team notion doesn't make sense as going by history and recent comments he seems to be heavily engaged in the process himself.
Tbh mate I reckon the change in attitude might be because that defeat was a lot more than he expected, and embarrassed him. At the end of the day it falls on him as the manager, so perhaps that's why he was a bit quicker to blame his resources. Saying that, he has a point!
