Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I disagree. Landscape has changed significantly now. A cup win (maybe more frequently than every 30 years) constitutes a success. I'd kill for that feeling the Palace and Newcastle fans had last season.

Its an interesting point mate, would you have swapped positions with Leicester City and had their success over the past 10 years, but wed be in the same position they are in now?

I would mate.

We have a generation of fans who have not seen us win anything apart from a few footy matches.

Just existing in the PL is crap, our most memorable days have been Palace and Bournemouth in recent years, thats pathetic for a club of this size with a huge and fanatical fanbase.

I guess what your saying is would i take winning the PL but 8-10 years later be relegated? Absolutely i would.

Its a soul searcher isn't it mate.

Be gutted if we ever got relegated, last few time we came close and i thought we were goosed, i went numb and was hard for the preoccupation and intrusive negative thoughts not to spill, it wasn't healthy.

I dont know. But then I haven't got the combined scouting experience of about 60 years that Moyes and McKinlay have.

Look in the Championship. Look to Scotland and Ireland if need be. Moyes did that last time round and isn't that one of his selling points that he could rekindle that type of cheaper quality player like he did last time around?
Up to a point. It's easy to remember the Cahill, Arteta, Pienaar, Gravesen, Seamus and a few other bargains and loans.

That's a bit selective, though: in the same period, we dropped £5m on Per Kroldrup, £3.5m on Simon Davies, couple of mill on Shandy Andy, £6m on Beattie, £8.5m on Bily etc.

This place would explode if our remaining signings were from a mid-table championship side, Celtic, Rangers and Sligo Rovers! 😂
